PHAYME

The answer in Hip Hop has finally arrived and sent to earth in a woman's flesh!!

Her name is PHAYME, which stands for Player Haters Ask Why Me. For over 5 years PHAYME has been on the Hip-Hop scene in Detroit writing and performing at open mics and doing local shows. Growing up in a small town in New Jersey (Freehold), PHAYME was able to witness the rise of Hip-Hop culture by listening to the Saturday night mix shows out of New York with DJ Red Alert and Chuck Chillout. Too young to make the trek from Jersey to NYC, she was forced listen to the radio and dream about one day making records. After visiting her father a local celebrity in Detroit as a teenager, PHAYME decided to move to the big city in hopes to make things happen. Numerous recording sessions and a little networking allowed PHAYME to team up with another female emcee from Detroit. The duo released a single on a small independent label titled, "What Your Man Can Do." After a short run with various rap groups, hitting open mics and making guest appearances with local artists, PHAYME released the maxi single, "Do Yo' Thang in 2001 as a solo artist.

PHAYME's influences are numerous and include artists such as Nas, Notorious BIG, Brand Nubian, Rah Diggah, MC Lyte, Lady of Rage, Tupac and Jay Z to name a few. When PHAYME is asked what is her goal and what she hopes to accomplish with the music she has this to say, "I just want to be able to eat and live comfortably off my music while staying true to myself and my fans."
