Early Years

I started rhyming @ 13 yrs old and never stopped learning how to get better. I loved to battle but took a different route after a major showdown with D12's own PROOF (RIP) in the 2000 Source Unsigned hype battle in The Infamous NYC. I consider myself an emcee and not a rapper because in hip-hop you were taught that rap talks about yourself and hip-hop expands your 5 senses via robust culture. Since hip-hop began in 1977, My birth year of course, it has been inspiring many cultures of various languages and generations. Me included. I always felt that i was a legend in the making and would be able to wield hip-hop with a power that can change environments for the better. I was hired in 1995 by Michele Obama for the PUBLIC ALLIES Program through AMERICORPS. I won awards for working with youth teaching violence prevention strategies. I had a few close encounters with fame almost signing with Bad Boy, and Universal affiliated labels. Never wanted to conform with the commercialism of the industry so I stayed an underground artist. Momz, a nurse works for the city and is a healer, lover of the people and is a Mississippi transplant to Chicago raised in Cabrini Green Projects. I have one older brother who's a Thug to his heart, however he started Project Born Records, Inc. In 2007. He recently teamed up with Mello of ELITEMIND Management. Now his dream is takin me to the top. Pops bounced. Passed away recently. Step Pops stepped up fa sho. Strong family.†

"Wake Up World" features tunes from legendary producers Ron Trent, Wajee (Slum Village), Rashid Hadee, Toronto's own Nick Beats, and the very hungry TALL BLACK GUY from Chi. His newest project is entitled "Closed Mouf Don't Get Fed". His two smashing lead singles features up-n-coming producer Chuck LaWayne ("Jacuzzi") & 42 Keez ("1-2-3") which are quickly earning this talented artist a place in the "NEXT" catagory of the hip-hop music†industry. In 2011 Phenom was featured in Level-Up Magazine, MB District Magazine & True Star Magazine. This Source Magazine Unsigned Hype Battle Winner is currently receiving calls from Universal, Bad Boy Entertainment, OHM Recordings and a host of other independent labels throughout the world. His two lead singles are expected to catapult him into the lime light where he will without a doubt gain the respect of anyone making music today.
