"PBB is a collaboration of many musical genera’s and a circus of uniquely mesmeric personalities. They have an explosive sound and are simply a great act to experience live and on record." - Dave (Ugly Toad Productions)

Biography

Born in early 2002, guitarist Phil Brumley partnered with drummer Tahle Kirk to work on a recording project and write songs. Together, they began weekly writing sessions, trading notes and inspiration. Early gigs included coffee shops and bookstores, where sets consisted of covers by U2, Dave Matthews Band and Martin Sexton as well as a handful of originals. Phil and Tahle continued to form a concept for PBB while looking to add more musicians.

A year later, Brian James (keyboard) was recruited after answering an online post. For more than a year PBB performed at local venues developing a fan base and journaling their experiences. During this time they were selected as one of five finalists to compete in the "Rising Star Competition" hosted by 94.9 KLTY, the largest Christian Radio station in the nation. "What A Friend" was featured on air during the morning show with Frank Reed and a local recording engineer took notice of PBB and offered to do their first EP, "Listen" for minimal cost. After "Listen" was released in early 2004 the group took on more concert dates while still looking for other musicians.

After meeting Jason Fargason (violin) at a party in Dallas, Texas, the band welcomed his talents to the PBB stage in July 05’. The added dynamic of an electric violin meant that PBB’s sound was changing. Almost a year later Mike Hankins (bass) became a permanent fixture in the group giving a completely different edge to their sound. “We just began to re-invent ourselves”, Brumley said. “Our beginnings were modest but we were ready for more, much more”.

In August of 2006 PBB entered the studio with new producer Martin Baird to begin work on their sophomore album. They are currently working towards completion of that project.

Lyrics

That's When I Know You

Written By: Phil Brumley Band

Verse 1:
Can I begin to comprehend You
Begin to understand Your ways
How I struggle
When You move in a way that I can’t believe
In a way that I can’t perceive
And it takes every ounce of faith in me

Chorus 1:
That’s when I know You
That’s when I know You

Verse 2:
These thoughts rolling around inside of me
Causing a war inside my head
How I struggle
Feels like I am just walking on broken legs
Fall asleep in a quicksand bed
So I reach out to You instead

Chorus 2:
That’s when I know You
That’s when I know You
Through the trial, through the fire, through the rain
That’s when I know You
That’s when I know You

Bridge:
That’s when I know You
In my weakness You are strong
In my weakness You are strong

No. 5 (The Cross Song)

Written By: Phil Brumley Band

Verse 1:
Are these the scars that I came to see
Are they deep enough for me to believe
And now I come to You, cry out what have I done
To receive this is beyond me
How can You justify that You’re dieing for me
When I know, I know that I’m not worthy

Chorus:
I’ve been thinking lately
About the time that we were there
You were high and I was on the ground
I’ve been thinking maybe
About the look in Your eye when You said to me
Go and be free

Verse 2:
It’s not that I deserve it at all
It’s just that You decided to take the fall
For a man in sin who can’t begin
To say how great Your love has been
So with this breath I open up my mouth
To amplify the song come out
Like a church on fire
Like a ocean roar
I’ll make some noise

Love Is

Written By: Phil Brumley Band

Verse 1:
So what if I'm able to speak in a tounge, it's all just a noise if I don't have love.
So what if I know all the things of this world without love, love, love
Without love

Verse 2:
So what if I'm able to give all I have, if I don't have love what good is that?
So what if my body if offered in flames
without love, love, love
Without love

Chorus:
Love is patient, Love is kind
Love come change this evil heart of mine

Bridge:
Love will endure until the very end
Love came to cover a multitude of sins.
And love is not jealous, it never seeks its own.
Love is what saved this cold heart of stone

Brother I can not give much, but I can give you love

Brother I can not give much, but I can give you love
