Bio

Phil Buckle is a songwriter, producer and mixing engineer. His songwriting career began in the early 90’s when he penned hits for his own band, the highly successful Southern Sons and Australian recording legend John Farnham.

In 1990 Phil was awarded the ARIA Song of the Year for the song Burn For You.

During this period he achieved 3 top ten hits and a double platinum album with Southern Sons and a six times platinum album Chain Reaction with John Farnham.

In 1991 he was nominated again for the ARIA Song of the Year for the song Always and Ever and received the APRA award for most played song of the year Heart In Danger.

In this year he also received the highest Australian accolade of APRA Songwriter of the Year.

1993 saw Phil write the hit You Were There and 5 tracks on the John Farnham album Then Again including 2 co-writes with American recording artist Richard Marx and collaborations with legendary American country writer Randy Goodrum.

Artists in Germany, North America, Sweden and the Philippines have covered his songs, most recently Swedish artist Jett Torpe, who achieved gold sales status in 2000 for Phil’s song “What If I Do”, and “No Sky is Blue”, a song on the gold accredited Home and Away Soundtrack released in late 2002.

Phil has also engineered and mixed a number of projects including tracks by Deni Hines, Emmanuelle Correla, the Rove Live CD and most recently the jazz album “Come In Spinner - More’ for ABC Records.
