Music
The best kept secret in music
Press
From just south of the city centre, Phil Davies is a solo singer / songwriter, who once
ensconced in the studio, seems very deft at building up a respectable layer of sound around his dreamy introspective melodies. There is something eerie about the acoustic work outs here, from the pleasing pace of “Headfirst” and the drawn out, hazy musical mist of “MeltdownUnderway”. For much of the time Davies double tracks his voice, soaking the music in the more poppier moments of Badly Drawn Boy and other lighter shades of acoustipop. The chord changes on “Headway” are impressive, providing a short but memorable interlude; elsewhere there are subtle hooklines and infectious melodic stretches. The whole things is cleanly recorded to great effect - http://www.music-dash.co.uk
