"Sound Burst: Exploring Music - HD Video"

It’s always exciting to see friends who are taking bold steps and finding their own voice. Philip Nelson, SVP of NewTek empowers the vision of artists and media companies on a daily basis but it was a journey inside Peter Himmelman‘s ‘Furious World.’ that gave him the encouragement he needed to cut his own music.

Philip launched a kickstarter campaign and quickly found a community of friends willing to help. Now he’s on his way of completing a life long dream and using technologies to help find an audience. - Nice Fish Films

"NewTek’s Philip Nelson’s kickstarter CD project"

Nelson has undertaken a new venture. He’s launched a crowdsource-funded Kickstarter project to raise $4,988 to finish an album of country, folk and americana songs.
Nelson is half way to his fundraising goal and has 11 days left to make the rest. Alan Weinkrantz, Nelson’s friend and a San Antonio-based marketing expert who owns a high tech PR firm has offered to kick in $250 if 60 people from the San Antonio area pledge $25 each. (Full disclosure I pledged $25 to Nelson’s project.) - Silicon Hills News

Adventures from the Road - 2011

Having jammed with the likes of Jon Anderson of Yes, Pat Dininzio of The Smithereens and Grammy Nominee Peter Himmelman, Philip Nelson certainly has no shortage of top-notch experience under his belt. His inaugural album, “Adventures from the Road,” began with an impromptu songwriting session with the legendary Himmelman. Nelson eventually recorded a single, “Racing Off to Nowhere,” with the Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, which catapulted him into the extraordinary efforts that have resulted in his first LP.

A native of Monroe, Louisiana and now a resident of San Antonio, Texas, Nelson has taken his music across the globe. He has performed in New York City, Nashville, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Tokyo, and on the steps of the Sacré Coeur Basilica in Paris. Whether he’s captivating audiences at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas or playing for tips in New Orleans’ French Quarter, Nelson combines his storytelling ability and diverse musical style to create a quirky and highly entertaining repertoire wherever he goes.

Nelson spends his daytime hours as senior vice president of Strategic Development for NewTek Inc., the leading manufacturer of portable live production, video and 3D animation products. He is also a recent recipient of San Antonio Business Journal’s Forty Under Forty Award. But Nelson has always had a passion for music, and that passion can be clearly heard through his first album, “Adventures from the Road.”
