Bio
I've always been passionate about the voice and aspired to the great singers of our time. I started writing songs when I was nine years old and by thirteen was hooked on songwriting. After years of auditioning for pop-bands, do session vocals and writing top-lines for R&B and dance instrumentals I felt pretty disillusioned by the music industry. My personal life was complicated too and I had lots of unanswered questions about life.
I'd had many disappointments after appearing in TV talent shows and struggling to get a break. Just before my twentieth birthday I met some Christians and they shared Gods love for me. I handed my life over and everything began to change. At this stage I picked up guitar and began documenting my journey. Songs of joy, songs of struggle and confusion and songs of testimony. I just wanted to be honest and share my story. Before I knew it, I was touring churches, festivals and events.
Myself and my manager/friend Andy Baker independently released debut album Watching Me in 2007. I've been blessedly busy! Thanks to support from mentors Like Graham Kendrick and support from Christian radio Ive been able to share my story with many and been blessed to see songs reach the top of the UK Christian and gospel charts.
In 2009 I became an advocate for international children's charity Compassion. We visited Haiti just six weeks before the devastating earthquake and by Gods grace myself and team have recruited hundreds of sponsors for the charity's work since the launch of my 2nd album Taste.
I appeared on BBC's Songs of Praise in Jan 2011 and released live studio mini-album 'Out of the Blue' (produced by Grammy award-winning songwriter & producer Eliot Kennedy). 'Out of the Blue' just after.
It has been welcomed so warmly by critics and is being broadly play-listed by local and national radio.
Songs like 'I am amazing' and 'Raggedy Doll' have taken me into the houses of parliament as a part of young persons self-esteem campaign 'Beauty is Unique'. This year myself and a great team are launching 'The Raggedy Doll foundation' (a charity which promotes self-worth in children).
2012 is going wonderfully. Myself and band have been touring with new material and we're about to begin recording the third full studio album. There's a European tour coming in the Autumn and plans to move further afield in 2013! My vision and hearts desire it to bring God's love and hope to as many as possible in my lifetime!
