Bio

As the latest regional act to emerge from the south, Birmingham-based rapper Philmac offers just enough funky southern beats and kinetic
lyrics to suggest that Alabama, a state known for its racist rednecks, may have a rap scene after all. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Philip "Philmac" McAdams, has been rapping for the past 1 years and has developed his skills until he was ready to unleash his music on the masses. Combining his southern rap style with his
signature production style, Philmac introduces himself to the rap world with his debut album "P-Funk". Practically a one man band in
the studio: he writes, produces and plays every instrument on his debut album and cites a wide variety of influences ranging from artist
in rap, R&B, and rock, but he admits he was mainly influenced by producers. "I'm really into doing the music more than being an artist
because producers had a major impact on me; mainly people like Dallas Austin, The Neptunes, Dr. Dre and Scott Storch and the list goes on
and on. Producers really inspired me to pursue music as a career."
Boasting well-constructed piano and guiatar loops over stuttered
hi-hats and snares, "P-Funk" often plays like a hypnotically smoothed
out soundtrack for the south's picturesque landscape. Philmac spits
his cut-blunt-and-ride philosophy combined with his rapid fire twand to maximum effect on the album and on his first single "Superfreak" he
explores the subject of meeting women in southern clubs that were that a little too hot to handle. "This song is basically about girls you
meet at the club and they turn out to even freakier than you are and I'm really pretty freaky. Ha ha. For the guys that have ran into
these types of girls would totally get this song. Plus in the strip club which are the staple of the south, this song is like my anthem to
the strippers and how they get down." With his debut album "P-Funk", Philmac plans to show the music world a new sound is on the horizon
and that it is coming from an unlikely place. Alabama.
