Punchline Magazine wrote, “Phil Mazo brings a light-hearted, almost highbrow tone to cringe comedy,” and also featured Phil in its A Tight Five video interview series. Meanwhile, The Serious Comedy Site is “seriously betting Mazo will get ‘discovered’ by some major studio, get his own sitcom or a couple of blockbuster movies.”

Indeed, his recent role in the film High Hopes helped earn it an acceptance into the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, as well as HBO's 2008 New York International Latino Film Festival. In the film, Phil plays two separate characters.

He was one of only ten comedians selected to perform in The New York City Underground Comedy Festival's 2008 Emerging Comic's Contest and recognized by the festival in 2005 as one of the best comedians under 30. He was also a winner of The 2004 Comedy Soapbox Festival.

Phil’s writing has appeared in Sports Illustrated and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Jokes, and his standup is in regular rotation on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Raw Dog Comedy channel and AOL Radio's Comedy Attack! station.
