Bio
Finding authentic raw power is rare in evolutionary contemporary rock. Philosophy of Soul can ramp it up with the best, yet still retain a fluid movement that is polished and ported. The heady combinations heard in their music are a testament to musicians who have readied themselves for the long haul. The signature sound created by Philosophy of Soul is thunderous with a touch of consequence. To hear them is to experience lightning in a bottle... lemon and salt optional.
Brothers Andee Avila (drums/lead vocals) and Danny Avila (guitars), sons of renowned B3 organ blues master Hammond Sam Avila (Walter Trout) and nephews to bassist/producer John Avila (Oingo Boingo), have learned their lessons well. Their influences spectrum Jimi Hendrix to Return to Forever, make a sharp left at Stevie Wonder and veer towards Incubus.
Bassist Steven "Supa Man" Castillo captures the bottom end with bad intentions as he seduces the pulse from the dead. Together they create a wall of sound that echoes the sentiment "what is to give light must endure burning." To catch a set with Philosophy of Soul is to hold no illusion that going over the edge isn't part of the package.
