Bio
The music of Phil Rossi [and the Bad Habit] deals with excess, longing, and desire. Fearless and exposed, Rossi’s words and melodies bring the listener to an intimate place. Driving percussion, velvet harmonies, and blues-driven guitar riffs fuels an even deeper fire. The live experience is a tremble, a whisper, a howl, and a breath.
The Bad Habit has seen several levels of instrumentation while constantly bringing its unique brand of rock (with stylistic influences coming from jazz, ethnic, and classical music) to the Washington D.C. area. Artistic influences range from Mark Lanegan, to Otis Redding, from Peter Murphy to Johnny Cash. A dynamic creature, the Habit is constantly growing and changing as the song writing grows and changes.
The sum of the member's experiences and influences create the sound. In this case, the Bad Habit brings a healthy respect for its roots in rock, while allowing its member's backgrounds in Latin jazz, funk, country, reggae and classical music to permeate the sound.
The result is a unique arrangement of melodies and textures that will make you move
