Lyrics

One Shot

Written By: Phil the Peddler

From bad lands there hailed a man
His will like twisted fire
Rode on down Hey Sherif Brown
My rifle you can hire

Wait one son I need no gun
I got this town looked after
So take your gun be on the run
This town is my disaster

Traded away, sold and bought up
The elected and corrupt
Now the common man and his uncle Sam
and the Sherif shootin' up

While the creatures dealing all the evil
The fear, the nightmare, the powder and the pain
Twilight hour, high dark tower
One shot judgement day

Tweedle dee said to Tweedle dumb
Hey one shot ain't enough
Now the work of the tower done by the powder
The creatures ain't so tough

All that's righteous all that's right
That dark side will devour
Chosen one Lord cursed son
Protect me my high tower

The Mountain

Written By: Phil the Peddler

Through the mountain pass comes round
The songbird flies without a sound
Who made up my mind that I should pay for what I need
How I long for the day when the mountain can be free

Hear the water rush this morn
From the river I was born
By her side I close my eyes let the water sing to me
How I long for the day when the river can be free

Old fire drift asleep
Old wind whisper to me
Underneath the starry sky I can finally see
Should've known all along the river's all I need

Big ol' moon shed your light
Clear the fog from my sight
When will we realize just what it is we've done
It'll be far to late once the rivers gone

Settle back the wine is ripe
Within the peace of my pipe
Who made up my mind that all I need isn't free
Why would I ever pay for the air I breathe

And if the ocean may
Wash our cities away
Then we can finally hear the songbird sing
How I long for the days when the mountain can be free

Big Chief

Written By: Phil the Peddler

Big Chief called to the little ones
Take up your arrow and bow
Ride as fast as you can ride
Take up your arrow go
Blind as an owl and wise as the same
They all should know his name
Careful round the Blind Owl's shadow
Cast from ancient timber and flame

Track down the echo of the thunder go
Take up your arrow and bow
Find the man who'd invade your land
Take up your arrow go
Dust cloud on the horizon bringing nothing good this way
Get everyone before they get too close and
Never go away

They'll bring the gunpowder moonshine the cannonball rain
Take up your arrow and bow
We'll bring our eagle eyes we'll bring the battle cries
Take up your arrow go
Big Chief called to the young and the brave
I won't be no man's slave
More than just my soul to save
My Land, My God, My Home,
And My Grave

The Blind Owl blazed across that wild
Untamed, broken trail
Rode off to meet his fate his end
Rode off to finish the tale
Cavalry rifle shattering light
Now nowhere left to go
Another hand lost in another tragic cause
No more

and Remember

Written By: Phil the Peddler

I can see through that freshly parted sky
I can see the moon
Clouds coming back and bringing with them a storm
and coming soon
Remember the time that we danced away the rain
and the drums held the lightening at bay
That blue moon comes to give her away

Back when we were young and
Felt unstoppable a force, we couldn't lose
When all I needed was a second hand guitar
and the dogs Oh how I miss the moose
Remember the time that we danced in the rain
and the drums brought the lightening my way
Then the blue moon come to have it's say

So we carry what we can and we'll go
Just as far as the land lets us go
Untill we see the sun we kiss the water
and say I've had it with the snow
Remember the time she threw her hands in the air
Said if it rains I couldn't care
That blue moon comes to clear the air

Now we find ourselves barefoot broken hearted
but cautious as they come
They expect nothing more from us after all we're fools
In love and on the run
Remember the time she threw her hands in the air
Said if it rains here we don't care
That blue moon comes only if we dare.

Sparrow

Written By: Phil the Peddler

you know I can't explain
the clouds turned gray
you know i can't explain
the time we've been away
you know i can't explain
sparrow fly away
they never ask us why
and we just smile
they never ask us why
we're always high
they never ask us why
fly sparrow fly
you know i can't explain
we are not afraid
you know i can't explain
all the oceans sway
you know i can't explain
sparrow fly away
never ask us why
we won't say goodbye
never ask us why
we refuse to hide
never ask us why
fly sparrow fly
