"Los Angeles Love You a Night At Pehrspace"

And speaking of favorite songs of 2012 and truth, Phoebe Bridgers' "Waiting Room" was thee heartbreaker tune of the year. It's brilliant. Those who have caught her shows with and without her band Eistein's Dirty Secret know she's something special -- and just wait until she graduates high school. Members of her band have been stolen recruited by Kitten (who look to have a full schedule ahead of them this year) so be sure to catch this show because these might be few and far between soon. - la-underground.net

"Phoebe Bridgers at the Coffee Gallery"

If you’re into the mandolin, then you probably already know the name Evan J. Marshall. He’s kind of a big deal: “one of the greatest mandolin virtuosos ever,” “the Michael Jordan of the mandolin,” “one of the few great musicians of our time,” and so on. He’s a master of both technique and interpretation. And he’s coming to the Coffee Gallery next Tuesday, along with his brother John “Slap-Bass Billy” Marshall, who’s only “the greatest slap-bass virtuoso in the world of bluegrass,” as opposed to, you know, the greatest ever. These musical Wonder Twins are graduates of our very own Occidental College.
Opening for them is another local treasure, Phoebe Bridgers. A Sequoyah alum and freshman at LACHSA, this singer/songwriter has already played acoustic folk all over town: at the Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest and Folk Festival, the Folk Music Center in Claremont and the Echo Back Porch. Wonder Twins and a wunderkind — what’s not to like?
Evan J. Marshall and Billy & The Hillbillies
Tuesday, January 26, 8 p.m.
The Coffee Gallery Backstage
2029 N. Lake Ave, Altadena
Tickets $20; call 626.398.7917 or visit coffeegallery.com - Hometownpasadena.com

"Turned Around"

This is Phoebe Bridgers. Yeah, she’s 16 and has had music in her blood from the age of “can’t remember..” When asked when she found herself wanting to play music and one moment of influence she said, “‘I’ve never really thought about doing anything else with myself, but I remember being really inspired by Tom Waits, because my dad used to (and still does) blast Tom Waits whenever he’s mad.” It’s amazing how well her lyrics project the story into your mind. Her voice inflection slaps you out of nowhere. Quite unique, quite talented, quite sometime left for her. No question she will make the best of it. - thefmly.com

Bio

Singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers has played her own brand of acoustic folk all over Los Angeles, including the Troubadour, the El Rey, the Roxy, Genghis Cohen and the Grand Ole Echo. Hometown Pasadena called her a "local treasure." As well as her acoustic solo performances she also regularly plays L.A. venues with her band Einstein's Dirty Secret. Phoebe is an engaging performer for such a young singer, and her original songs are mature and insightful.

Influences include Elliot Smith, Alex Chilton, Joni Mitchell and Tom Waits.

Phoebe is recently graduated from the music department at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
