"New Cincinnati Band Madness"

Ian Gullett from the great Electro/Indie act Diet Audio is back with a new Electronic project called Photo Electric. Teaming with talented vocalist Cassie Mullen, the duo issued a three-song teaser EP called Boom on Bandcamp for free download. Mullen's crafty, sweeping melodies and seductive vocals combine with Gullett's backdrop of evocative Electronic soundscapes, with intriguing beats, ethereal-to-noisy guitar and an overall ghostly ambiance. Click here to download the EP and check out the duo's first video, for their tune "Tom," below. Photo Electric's debut live performance is Saturday at Newport's Southgate House Revival. The band performs with local Electronic band Playfully Yours and Lexington act SHOZO. Showtime is 9 p.m. and cover is $5 ($8 for those 18-20). The band is asking fans to shoot video at the debut show and send it their way for a planned music video (click here for details). Photo Electric is currently finishing up their debut album. - Cincinnati Citybeat

Bio

By Spring of 2012 Ian had been searching for a creative partner to click with for quite sometime. After posting numerous adds on countless websites and nearly losing hope he met Cassie. She was a singer/songwriter looking for a band. They met and realized that their influences aligned and overlapped in intriguing ways so they began writing.

After trying to "fill out" their sound with additional members they realized that the idea of creating music as a two piece was even more exciting and pure. They decided to make electronic music without computers. No laptop to hide behind on stage. The most exciting part about the composition and performance is that all the sounds are being created in realtime unlike most electronic music currently being created.

Photo Electric incorporate lights and video in their live performance with the help of local video artist and curator Loraine Wible. Think the texture of Phantogram, the textures of The Postal Service and song structures of Radiohead. Their goal is a show that completely engulfs the audience.

Check out the band's Youtube page for a video for their song "Tom" produced by local artist Marc Governanti as well as a live video for "Deadlock" shot completely by fans at the band's first two shows.

Photo Electric are currently working on their debut LP to be released this Spring with an east coast tour to follow.
