"The debut album "World in Black" by artist P*I*A"

Tags: CD release, debut album, P*I*A, World in Black
The debut album "World in Black" by artist P*I*A is ready to be released. As a true labor of love she poured her heart into and it is certainly one of her biggest achievements this year.
Celebrate with her at the pre-release party on Friday Dec. 14, 2012 at Parkside Lounge. To be played are special live versions of the songs and everybody who comes receives a free pre-release download of her debut album.
The band is magnificent. On drums is Andreas Winter, fresh of his long-standing residence with Cirque de Soleil. On base is Eddy Khaimovich, Israeli bassist, recipient of multiple America-Israel Cultural Foundation grants. On guitar is Steven Ciric. And P*I*A does vocals. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 USD.

Read what industry people are saying about the album on P*I*A's blog:
"I absolutely love your new album! Just sitting in front of the fireplace, the atmosphere is perfect. I close my eyes and its like walking in the secret-magic forest, tiny fairys dancing around me... My favourite track is The City (sounds a little bit like Amy Winehouse). But in my top 3 are also Honeymoon and Hey Joe" -Heidi Kiisa
The digital release date is 12/21/12, day of the Planetary Alignement, physical release is on 1/13/13, P*I*A's birth date.
In May 2012, P*I*A sang for the U.S. Navy, an honor to perform the Star Spangled Banner and WWII songs at the National Arts Club during Fleet Week. Another milestone was receiving the ASCAP Plus Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers ASCAP for her growing song catalog and the songs of her official debut album. - EYES IN - front page feature

"PIA "World in Black""

P*I*A
"World in Black"

World in Black (that I turn red) is the title of the Debut album of bavarian born Pia Zierhut a.k.a. P*I*A for which she already received a singer-songwriter award of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers ASCAP.
The title alone shows courage and self-confidence which is reflected in her biography.
The connection to her current hometown of choice New York was established in 2001. She left her art studies in Nuremberg to go on a "Walz" pilgrimage which is a tradition to develop your artistic skills and your character usually practised within the craftsmanship circles of Germany.
That's how she deepened her musical talents and managed to finish an entire album with renowned musicians in equally such renowned studios for the most part in New York City.
The result is a conceptual album dedicated to light, music and universal love. It shows by being psychedelic from beginning to end and leaving lots of space.
"Timothy Leary would have been impressed" a critic writes which is musically supported by an abundance of rich reverb effects on her voice, the electric guitars and keyboards.
Against classic conventions the songs begin or end often with an instrumental part or are interconnected with each other.
The voice sounds airy in Hey Joe (Would You) and You! or rocks in Honeymoon in a loop-duett with itself.
Very nice are the passages with Arabian-inspired chants (Go & Find Love, My Love).
The title song and Whispering in the Mornin' show through a dry and different sonic perspective P*I*A's high vocal skills and remarkable singer and songwriter qualities.
Bottom line: For lovers of the music of the 60s and 70s and for dreamers ...

"Opulenter Pop mit viel Klangfantasie"

21.12.2012 09:53 | Von unserem Redaktionsmitglied Mathias Wiedemann
Pia Zierhuts Debut-Album
SCHWEINFURT/NEW YORK

"“Timothy Leary would have been impressed”"

Sad sky over New York
It ends with the Big Bang, the ethereal star dance on the canvas of the club Disharmony: You can tell that the choice-New-Yorker Pia Zierhut is, among other skilled artistic professions video artist. The ex-art student “on tour”…returned with her new show “Songs in 3D” back in her hometown. The 3D effects in the background… the restless wandering, glossy propagating tendrils, swirling stars and planets, swirling psychedelic colors, shapes and faces look so very fascinating – Timothy Leary would have been impressed.
… Flakes falling from the gray city sky, people hurrying past in the shadow of skyscrapers, it could be snow, but also the fallout from Ground Zero. “You!” is the song that was written in the wake of September 11, under, according to the artist, the “cloudy sky over New York.” … America can also be very sensitive, gentle and vulnerable, is one of the messages of P*I*A’s intimate songs. Husband Steven Ciric from Chicago accompanied her on the guitar and adds the delicate, soaring sounds of blues and folk rock elements.
The musical bite in the Big Apple tastes otherwise sweet, sometimes bitter, Zierhut’s American songs are urgent and profound, have naive charm and, despite all the experimentation would be most suitable also for coffee houses. It’s about universal love and human consciousness – acoustically and visually. P * I * A is her stage name with an asterisk, which stands for personality, identity, authenticity. After just over an hour, the presentation, before a cheering audience, ended, there are a few cover pieces, from jazz to “Over the Rainbow”: After the fresh experimental music one catches oneself in the realization of how dependent we actually become of such mainstream songs… Uwe Eichler - Mainpost (Schweinfurt/Germany) 2011-02-04

"Trauriger Himmel über New York"

P*I*A lautet ihr Künstlername, mit Sternchen, was, für Persönlichkeit, Identität, Authentizität steht. - Mainpost (Schweinfurt/Germany) 2011-02-04
