"Cataldo"

When Rock 93.5 DJ Cataldo was asked about Pain In Life, he replied: "Pain In Life are what rock radio should sound like. Great songs. Thundering guitars. Massive hooks. An instant reaction record, play it now and watch the phones explode!" - 93.5 WARQ

"Pain In Life"

One of the capital city's hottest unsigned hard rock acts, Pain in Life aren't likely to stay that way for too much longer. They self-released a CD last year that sounds as good if not better than anything their target audience's favorite radio station, Rock 93.5, has in rotation. As if that's not enough, the band recently added a second guitarist to further fill out their already heavy sound. KO - Free-times

Bio

In December of 2000, Pain In Life was formed with the unification of guitarists Will Dye and Billy Florence, drummer Randall Day, bassist Jeremy Masters and vocalist Scott McGrady. Initially a collective of musicians interested in becoming a successful cover band, the group played together for a time without any direction and after losing Billy and Jeremy to conflicts of interest, the band went through several members but never found a lineup that really worked.
The remaining members continued to practice and began toying with the idea of original music. Soon they found that though their styles of playing and tastes in music differed greatly, when combined, a raw, original and dark style of alternative rock soon emerged. In February 2002, Jeremy Masters returned to the band and finalized the new sound. Within a month the band was in the studio recording a demo and soon after that playing shows all over their hometown of Columbia, S.C. at clubs including Banana Joe's, Uncle Doctors, New Brookland Tavern, and Sundance, where they were the winners of the Summer 2002 Channel 93.5 Locals Live competition. They have played regional and national festivals including 3 Rivers Music Festival and South Carolina’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Five points, and shared the stage with many national acts including Social Burn, Stereomud, Unloco, Seven Mary Three, Tantric, Shinedown, Brand New Sin, Saliva, and Crossfade. Pain In Life is currently the largest drawing band in their hometown of Columbia, SC. Pain In Life is receiving regular radio airplay in many stations across the Southeast, and are currently in regular rotation on WARQ Rock 93.5, where their new single Burnt went undefeated in the cage match, beating out bands including Weezer, System of a Down, and Gorillaz. When Rock 93.5 DJ Cataldo was asked about Pain In Life, he replied: "Pain In Life are what rock radio should sound like. Great songs. Thundering guitars. Massive hooks. An instant reaction record, play it now and watch the phones explode!" After a brief hiatus in July of 2005, Pain In Life amicably parted ways with bass player Jeremy Masters. Kenny Edwards stepped in to fill the slot and brought with him a whole new level of sound and stage presence. The band is constantly at work perfecting their sound and show, striving for a level not often seen in bands of their genre.
When Pain in Life takes the stage, they are known for an energetic , abrasive and in your face live show that is rare in today’s music scene. With influences including Disturbed, Godsmack, Sevendust, Cold, Metallica, Soil, and Tool, Pain In Life brings an uncompromising edge to their genre. In October of 2003, Pain In Life released their self titled debut album. They are currently touring steadily in support of their album and working diligently on building a fan base in the southeastern United States. Pain In Life is also currently recording their second album at Modern Music Studio in Irmo, South Carolina.
