Biography

There's something special about pilley...

With a twinkle in her eye and a sly, up-to-something grin, pilley grabs life by the sleeve and runs ahead, daring it to keep pace with her. Spontaneity is an understatement as she constantly succumbs to her own insatiable appetite for adventure. Her energy and presence are not only infectious, they are addicting.

As a child, pilley began a courtship with piano which developed into a beautiful romance with classical music. As early as age sixteen, she had the coveted spot of performing with The Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Her talents gained her enrollment in the prestigious Eastman School of Music where she furthered her studies in concert piano and began dabbling in jazz and composition.

Currently residing in New York, pilley performs on Broadway as well as fronts the band ila's dress. Unbelievably, this energetic individual still finds time to perform solo and help other artists with her provocative ASCAP-sponsored Panty Party showcase series which features the finest in area talent in the wild and raucous atmosphere of a "panty party."

Originally from Memphis, there is an innocent Southern charm to pilley’s city street smart savvy. The combination provides the woman and her music with a depth and duality that at once ensnare and provide lasting enrichment to her audience. A captivating performer, a talented writer, a gifted artist, and a truly dynamic individual, it won't take long for you to see that yes, indeed, there is something very special about pilley.

Mississippi Nights
Written by Pilley Bianchi

Jeramiah was born a builders child, he was the first of us to come
We were raised in the Church of Christ and saved by the Holy One
But them pearly gates get rusty and Jehovah looks the other way
While his guardian angel took five, the Powers That Be let him walk away…

And Mississippi nights can be so hot
Mississippi nights can take you down
Mississippi nights can put you six foot under
and the lord can’t help you where you are bound
And the Night will swear she loves you
Mississippi bridge don’t look so high
Mississippi River she will call you
But don’t you put your faith child in a Mississippi night

He had a dream he could turn the land into gold for the common folk
It’d be a place we could be real proud and watch our young’uns grow
But he bought a horse from the good ‘ole boys, gave him a monkey for his back
They burnt their claim across his heart
Sign, sealed, delivered till death do part

And Mississippi nights can be so hot
Mississippi nights can take you down
Mississippi nights can put you six foot under
and the lord can’t help you where you are bound
And the night will swear she loves you
Mississippi bridge don’t look so high
Mississippi river she will call you
But don’t you put your faith child in a Mississippi night

Sometimes the pain is a hunger and love just ain’t enough
Sometimes the Power Behind the Throne reaches down and sucks you up

Well, I could see him slip away, brother lost his will to fight
I hated watching him sink so deep in the thick Mississippi Night
Now buzzards fly in circles above where progress used to be
Somewhere between pain and glory, he slipped through the cracks of a broken dream

And Those Mississippi nights they were so hot
Mississippi nights the took him down
Mississippi nights they put him six foot under
and the lord can’t help him where he has gone
And the night will swear she loves you
Mississippi bridge don’t look so high
Mississippi river she will call you
But don’t you put your faith child in no Mississippi night
