thriLLpiLLow

raised on the likes of sonic youth and fugazi, tHRILLpILLOW formed two years ago with female singer/rock guitarist plum crane and jazz bassist mike fisher. the duo wrote some crazy songs and their friend laid down disco beats to finish off their first recording. the pair then moved to brooklyn to partake of the music scene, but many craigs list drummers later, plum returned to western massachusetts (not before becoming a drummer herself though, in the all girl band the pink meat, and playing many new york clubs such as 169 bar, trash bar, arelene's grocery, the hook, galapagos, raw and asterisk).

plum continued to perform in the city while forming a new thriLLpiLLOW duo with drummer james z. they took off on tour down to north carolina, hitting the legendary milestone along the way, and on their return added bassist maggie nowinski (formerly of pazza rigazza, one of who's highlights included opening for cat power, and big bright sun, who had opened for bettie serveert) and lead guitarist matt weston (formerly of tizzy, who had opened for le tigre, and current solo percussionist and drummer in the noise band barn owl).

the breadth of the current line up has performed up and down the east coast, frequenting new york. the raw energy and creativity of the four musicians produce live shows ranging from the amplitude of a melt banana show to pared down art openings with keyboards and a baby doll voice from plum. if you enjoy bands such as deerhoof, modest mouse and the killers, you will enjoy the tHRILLpILLOW!
