On March 7th 2011 LIFE IN THE BIG CITY RECORDS released the debut album by PINT SHOT RIOT entitled SPELL IT OUT. This is made up of twelve songs depicting life and love in the current times. The album has been produced by Peter Miles (The King Blues) and recorded at Peter’s residential studio in Holne Bridge, Ashburton, Devon, England over two sessions. The CD version comes with a live DVD filmed at one of the bands 1,000 capacity sellout hometown shows at the Kasbah Club, Coventry, England. There is also a 24 page booklet with all the lyrics and good quality pictures.
WITH THEIR HOOK-HEAVY INDIE ROCK SPARKING AWAY. THEY BRING A REFRESHING VITALITY AND RIGOUR TO GUITAR ROCK BY ADDING DASHES OF CHAOS, CATCHINESS AND SEMI-METAL MAYHEM. THIS DEBUT IS A BELTER. MARK BEAUMONT @ CLASSIC ROCK
This release was just ahead of the band playing five gigs at SXSW in Austin Texas which were followed by another five gigs in New York all in March 2011. It was clearly obvious to all present that this ‘true grit’ rock ‘n’ roll was a winner with Americans who just seemed to welcome it with open arms!! Back in December 2010 PSR were in New York for the first time where they played at The Rock Shop, Webster Hall and the Mercury Lounge, this was where they sealed the deal to be on at SXSW and got the taste for America!
In April 2011 Pint Shot Riot continued their assault on America, playing ten gigs in L.A. and San Francisco including L.A’s Whisky-A-Go-Go club. Once again, audience were bowled over by the bands electric live performances and fresh sound. Another invitation to America then came and PSR played at the CMJ Music Festival in New York in October 2011 which included a gig at the infamous Brooklyn Bowl.
In the UK Pint Shot Riot recently sold out the 1,000 capacity BLOK club in Coventry and played in London for THIS FEELING at The Queen Of Hoxton. Pint Shot Riot have supported Cage The Elephant, Band of Skulls, Glasvegas, We Are Scientists, The Twang, Athlete, Ocean Colour Scene and The Enemy. They’ll be in the UK for the summer festivals before heading back to America again in the autumn.
Support for the band in the UK has come from BBC Introducing, BBC Radio One,
BBC 6 Music, NME TV, Soccer AM and a host of specialist DJ’s who’ve played their music either on the radio, at football grounds or in clubs across the land.
‘STARTING TO FLY’ is the new single from Pint Shot Riot taken from the band’s debut album ‘Spell It Out’. Mixed by Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Temper Trap), the single also features a club remix from fellow Coventry music maker and DJ Paul Morrell. The video is a ‘must see’ video made by Brighton film student Dino Kazamia who has now made five videos for PSR.
The last single ‘TWISTED SOUL’ was on the computer game FIFA 12 which sold around 10 million worldwide. The song also featured on BBC TV’s FINAL SCORE programme every Saturday during the winter of 2011. All this has led to around 500,000 people viewing various videos of the song on youtube.
The REDANKA remix of their single NOTHING FROM YOU has now been featured on the computer game NEED FOR SPEED HOT PURSUIT. This caused an instant reaction on the bands youtube page with thousand coming on board to view the remix video. It’s great how gamers become instant fans of the band! This remix also received rave reactions from alternative radio shows and in club-land.
In the spring of 2010 PSR recorded a new song called ‘VIVA ENGLAND’ in support of the England team and the HOMELESS WORLD CUP charity. This along with the “Extra Time Version” will be re-promoted in 2012 for the ENGLAND HOMELESS FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION charity which is part of the HOMELESS WORLD CUP. The band have gradually become known worldwide due to their earlier single NOT THINKING STRAIGHT being featured on FIFA 10 and on NEED FOR SPEED NITRO both computer games selling millions around the world.
Another song ‘TREACLE TOWN’ was featured on a trailer for the game ARMY OF TWO where Salam and Rio come to London, again this has been watched by thousands on youtube.
All this is on top of the band already being featured in the game FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4 where RICKY HATTON comes onto their first ever single ‘Punches Kicks Trenches & Swords’ which also gets featured on the juke box in THE SIMS 3.
