Sometimes the whole goody-goody thing can be grating, but P.J. Pacifico sure sounds sincere on his new album Well I'll Be . He's releasing it with a show at Acoustic Café tonight, and it's full of warm sentiment. Musically, he falls somewhere between earnest pop and new country--he's got a warbling, light voice that leads each personally-penned song. It begins with "Another Me," which starts with a musical nod to Southern rock, and includes his feelings about finding someone special and how "patience leads to everything." "Okay Fine" picks up a bit more twangy country in the guitar and a livelier beat as Pacifico muses, "And I said, alright, okay, fine, I stumbled over a goldmine." Some of it's sappy, but Pacifico has a clean, easy style and an understated band to match who hold the rhythm steady behind his capable singing. Formerly, he co-fronted Sunflower , but Pacifico sounds just as comfortable on his own.

Pacifico should be no stranger to anyone who has spent time on our so-called music scene. He was a member of Sunflower and Side By Each and worked at 7 Willow Street when quality national bands still came through the area. He's now doing the singer-songwriter thing and recently released "Well I'll Be", which demonstrates his strength in the sensitive nice-guy pop that is in favor these days. With James Blunt, Daniel Powter and Teddy Geiger making chart impact, Pacifico has released his solo debut at the right time. His hooks don't miss and his voice contains an everyman warmth. After 8 years of touring and co-fronting the band Sunflower, the Connecticut based P.J. Pacifico, makes his solo debut with the release of Well Ill Be on Viper Records.
P.J. has been singing since his early childhood. He started playing drums at the age of twelve, and picked up guitar and singing in college. Writing songs is my passion, says P.J., who wrote almost all of the songs on Sunflowers two albums, and everything on his own debut.
P.J.s musical influences are vast. He couldnt help hearing harmony, as his mother held her barbershop quartet rehearsals in their kitchen. His Aunt introduced him to James Taylor and Simon & Garfunkel, and he found The Police, U2 and R.E.M. on his own.
P.J. has shared the stage with Little Feat, Joe Jackson and Guster. He has performed at the legendary Capital Theater, Toads Place, The Bitter End, CBGBs and numerous college venues. He has been honored to sing our National Anthem at Madison Square Garden.
Eager to hit the road to support his new album of songs about everything from love to surviving cancer, P.J. is in the process of setting a national tour.
