“What a pleasure it is to see young talent blossom before your eyes - Placid Blue's front man Donnie Brooks has the pipes and song writing talent in the vein of Rhett Miller and Jason Isbell - stay tuned folks, these guys are for real and are going to shine in the Americana and AAA market.”
-Rick Heysquierdo, KPFT 90.1FM's The Lone Star Jukebox

Placid Blue’s first full length album, Beneath Your Sky, manages to tackle themes of heartache, abandonment and the constant struggles of life with optimistic, upbeat style.

This Houston based Americana/Red Dirt band founded by singer/songwriter Donnie Brooks, has been rocking the stage together since 2010. With Rob Koonce on lead guitar in addition to Josh McKethen on bass, Matt Silmon on drums, and Kyle Kelley on keyboards give Placid Blue an alternative country rock sound with an indie flair.

Placid Blue attributes major influence to legends Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard as well as bands like Old 97's, Bright Eyes, Smashing Pumpkins, Wilco, and Pink Floyd.

Over the years, Placid Blue has shared the stage with bands such as Reggie and the Full Effect, the Wheel Workers, Cruiserweight, Truth and Salvage Co., Tony Lucca, Dustin Welch, Johnathan Tyler and the Northern Lights, The Revival, and many others.
