"Music Review"

“Part pop, part tech-rock and a lot of heart. Definite influences from U2, ThePolice and Radiohead are apparent when you catch these guys in action. Also apparent are the solid rhythms and lasting melodies.”

Bio

As grand prize winners of the 2005 DiscMakers Independent Showcase, not only did Plain Jane Automobile take home the distinction of being the best of a series of bands hand-picked by major A&R reps at Billboard magazine and Taxi, they also proved that the title of best unsigned band in the Southeast was just the beginning.

Indie pop quartet Plain Jane Automobile will have you jumping around to their catchy hooks, driving rhythms, Brit-pop style guitars and impassioned tenor vocals. PJA was started by lead singer Duke Crider and guitarist Luis Mejia. They picked up bass player Paul McCorkell and drummer James Dickens and won 2005 DiscMakers Independent Showcase and started touring all over the U.S. PJA might remind you of The Killers and Cold War Kids and have a new record coming out in the very near future.

As grand prize winners of the 2005 DiscMakers Independent Showcase, not only did Plain Jane Automobile take home the distinction of being the best of a series of bands hand-picked by major A&R reps at Billoboard magazine and Taxi, they also proved that the title of best unsigned band in the Southeast was just the beginning.

This is just one of the many incidents contributing to a banner year. They played alongside Supergrass, Ok-GO, Stereophonics, Hard-Fi, Morning Wood, MUTE MATH, Luna Halo, Flickerstick, World Leader Pretend,Blue October, Need to Breathe,Madina Lake and to packed houses by themselves. Their songs became well-received on the airwaves of major Central Florida radio stations. Their network of fans has grown exponentially.

What began as a collaboration between Duke Crider (vocals) and Luis Mejia (guitar) has full blossomed into a band of world caliber. Their ability to write songs and drive their live shows with stark intensity led them to meeting Paul McCorkell (bass) and James Dickens (drums) and after that nothing seems to be able to stop them. The chemistry of the lineup solidified everything into its perfect place. Every town was won over and the songs just get better and better. Taking the best of rock, brit-pop, driving rhythms, and beautiful melodies they seem predestined to make a major mark in the current scene.

"This Orlando band has the kind of sound that seems destined for broader recognition. You could end up saying you saw them at Heatwave back when ... . PJA combine chiming Brit-pop-style guitars and the impassioned tenor of frontman of Duke Crider; their songs range from trembling ballads to stately anthems. "--ES
