Bio

Plann-B was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago and attended Percy L. Julian High School. His roots create a Black and Italian mix. Currently, he is a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus driver by day and a rap artist by night! He says, “The long hours at CTA served as fuel to want better for myself. The physical and mental stress from point A to point ‘B’ spurred an unprecedented need to want to fuel my dreams.”

Plann-B’s rapping career began at age 17; however, he started performing at age 13. He was the first young man chosen to create a rap jingle for ShowBiz Pizza’s debut commercial; right here in Chicago. Then, he worked with the R&B group Protégé for three years. When the group decided to part ways, Plann-B decided to go solo.

He then began working with the Chicago-based record label, Paradigm Records, LLC. This is where he began and finished production on his debut album, The Ultimate Game Plan. The name Plann-B derives from the meaning of his name. “Alternative.”

Plann-B says, “Because I choose not to rap about violence or use profanity, I feel I provide a balance to the rap industry.” “I’m giving the musical audience an alternative.” Plann-B says, “Rakim’s album had inspired me to have a quality production from start to finish.” Plann-B is quite a perfectionist and it shows from beginning to end throughout The Ultimate Game Plan.

Plann-B performed at the Top of the Line Models Agency Gala in August of 2006, where he absolutely lit up the stage with his hit, Turn the Heat Up. Further, he has also done various performances at the What’s Up Club, Clique Night Club, Cotton Club, and DuSable Museum. He was even the hype voice for Rasta Man on 106 Jamz radio station in 1995. He also booked the commercial appearance as a National Football Player for Gatorade that same year!

Plann-B has another passion; Acting! He studied at the ETA Creative Arts Foundation where Jennifer Hudson trained. Plann-B has acted in two films, Rock the House, where he was BET Thug #1, and the second film was Backdraft, where he played the Aide to Alderman Swayzak. Plann-B says, “I want people to enjoy themselves while listening to the CD, as well as receive the messages and learn from them.” “I like to think of myself as a vacation from the hood.”
