The Beginning

When autumn leaves began to crash into the concrete of the city, three lads were out for a walk. They were thinking about forming a band. Longing to play MUSIC, that was trying to find its way out of their hearts - to fly around the Globe, to intercept radio waves and conquer the ear tunnels...

In September 2007 old friends Dan, Jan and Kir locked themselves in a rehearsal room and wrote their first song. How was it called? None ever remembers... In fact, that song never made it to their concert setlist. But it was The Beginning.

It’s good to be LIVE!

First live show ever played by the Plastic Barricades took place in their hometown Tallinn (which is a capital of Estonia), on a stage of a club called “360” on the 21 of March 2008. That day had been printed into the memory forever: it was cold and foggy, naked bodypainted girls were all shivering, the sound was awful, but the crowd was stunning. Every guest got himself our first CD – single “London Walk”/”Heavy world”. Medieval walls were shaking and the afterparty was shocking.

Having shown themselves to the public, the guys didn’t want to stop (ever!), so they participated in several band competitions, among which the most successful would be the international “Nissan UrbanD Playground” contest, where PB made it to the finals, but had to settle with 2nd place.

Plastic on Baltics

The band wrote new material throughout the summer of 2008, composing the songs for their first EP and preparing for the “Plastic on Baltics Tour 2008”. On the 4th of October their old-fashioned but devoted green VW tourbus took the band to their first show abroad, which happened to be a LIVE concert in cult club “Fontaine Palace” (Liepaja, Latvia). Shows in the Baltic capital cities Riga and Vilnius followed. The more kilometers the band covered, the more certain they became – this is what we always wanted!

Metropolitan Paranoia

“If you live in a big city someday you’ll definitely find out what is the Metropolitan Paranoia. It will affect your consciousness and the world will never be the same again.” This intro to song “Alarm”, which openes the “Metropolitan Paranoia” EP, pretty much reveals the whole concept of the record. Recorded in October-November 2008 in Sound Division studios (Riga, Latvia), “Metropolitan Paranoia” consists of five songs (+weird intro track) revealing different scenarios of what can happen to inhabitants of a big city. Shivers after a bad dream or panic, caused by unpredictable weather conditions can happen to anyone and we sure know it although we come from a small country.

Deeper underground

Full of new ideas, Plastic Barricades returned to their cozy rehearsal studio in Tallinn. While a good friend and a brilliant sound-engineer Ivars Ozols was busy mixing the EP, the band started to book the summer European festival tour. In the beginning of spring 2009, when the managing work was almost done, PB had to wave hands to their former drummer Kir, who decided to quit this crazy and demanding process. Luckily it wasn’t a problem, and in a week Vasya took the reign in drum kingdom and became the third missing part of Plastic Barricades.

This started an underground period when PB had to learn old songs and create something even better.
Practicing and playing till perfection in their rehearsal studio, the band gained new strength to move forward.

London Calling

In January 2010 Plastic’s had a great experience shooting a music video for “Insomnia Seeds”. Big studio hall, burning lights, scripts, costumes, make up and dolly – all so interesting and inspiring. Editing room became so dear to them as the video is still in post-production but soon ready to be exposed as widely as possible.

Right now Plastic Barricades are preparing for the recording of their second EP. In the end of April 2010 the band will fly to London for a “dream-come-true” record-session. This will be the beginning of a new chapter – bombarding the record labels and working even harder and play even better songs to shake up the world and make it a better place.

Keeping our lane,

Dan, Jan and Vasya
