Plasticity

Plasticity: 1) the state or quality of being plastic; esp: capacity for being molded or altered. 2) capacity of the brain to modify the organization of its neuron networks according to the particular experiences of the body.

Plasticity is experimental beats and abstract electronic music influenced by algorithmic/generative composition, minimalism, sound-mass, electroacoustic music, 20th-century classical music, the polyrhythm and polymeter of Karnatic music, jazz, drum-n-bass, hip-hop and IDM.

The music unifies these influences into a style of dense, shifting rhythms: at once artificial and natural, mechanical and organic, complex and primal. Plasticity pushes rhythm into arrhythmia, into noise, achieving transcendence through intensity, a lush brutality contained in morphing, angular, rhythmic sound-masses.

Since arriving on the NYC scene in 2006, Plasticity has performed regularly at clubs including The Delancey, Tonic and the 3-Legged Dog Theater, as well as receiving an Artist in Residence grant at Havestworks.

The first e.p., ‘Introrse,’ will be self-released in September, followed by ‘Extrorse.’ They will eventually be packaged as one full-length entitled ‘Binary.’ During this time Plasticity will begin to seek a record label.
