"Online Judge for American Idol"

ALTHEA BATTLE (San Leandro): Hot Lil Moma Allison ripped the stage showing off her hot stuff! She rocked the mic, and I could feel her soul in her vocals! Anoop tried to give an “Eddie Bauer look”; but he looked more like “Eddie Sourer!” His stage presence was not strong, and he’s still BORING! He’s putting me to sleep zzzzzzzz! Sorry to say but, last night was definitely Lil’s last round! Her vocals we’re all over the place, and Lil has no originality shining through in her song selections. But she does have a voice. Kris showed his artistry, and I could hear “She Works Hard For the Money” on his album! Danny broke through from his normal routine, and I liked his “September” arrangement. ~I~love~ADAMS~VOICE!!~ He made a disco song contemporary! Adam brought tears to my eyes, and I’m a FAN! Matt’s vocals were better this week, but he wont be alive much longer in this competition.

“Lil is a natural singer,” says Althea Battle, who heads her own R&B band. “She hasn’t picked material that best complements her voice. She needs to look at two or three things to keep her in the running: 1. Find an image that’s more current for her age group. 2. Pick songs that are more soulful — from artists such as Chaka Kahn and Whitney Houston — to show off her big voice. She also needs to stop trying so hard to be someone she’s not.”

Adds Eddie Estrada, “She just needs to go back to what she did during Hollywood Week. She needs to get back to that R&B flavor that she amazed us with.”

And she needs to do it now — or possibly face elimination.

“Lil needs to not only have her best performance to date, she needs to have the best performance of the night,” says Colleen Gonzalez. “It’s tough to watch contestants like Lil who are so full of talent, but never seem to shine and reach their potential. Sometimes the show seems more like ‘Survivor’ in that you need to be cunning and skillful in your selections, as well as talented.”

Panelist Carrie Hults, however, is skeptical that Rounds can turn it around.

“I never really got what people saw in her,” she says. “She doesn’t listen to the judges. She always picks the wrong songs and has looked very uncomfortable in the past few outfits and hairdos. She should spend more time on choosing songs and rehearsing, and less time on how she looks.”

Possibly in even more danger is Anoop Desai, a singer most of the panelists believe could be headed home this week. “He just doesn’t give that star quality … no stage presence,” Battle says.

American Idol: Which Contestants May Be On The Line For Elimination This Week
March 31, 2009 10:00:30 by Paulene Hinds

This week on American Idol, the Top 9 contestants will be singing songs from the Top Downloadable hits. It’s now getting down to the crunch and that means all of the singers need to get in the game, especially Scott MacIntrye and Megan Joy Corkrey.

According to many American Idolviewers, Scott MacIntrye’s performances have become too predictable and boring in recent weeks and Mercury News readers appear agree.

“It’s time for sweet Scott to go home. His talent does not stand up to the rest of the young people on that stage,” says Karen Long. “I’m thinking he may be getting a huge sympathy vote from dateless young women.”

“His ‘likability’ index’ is high but he has no edge,” complains Tom Hart. “He would have to totally reinvent himself onstage this week” if he wants to stick around.

Scott MacIntrye seems like a nice guy, but is now out of his league vocally. He also seems lost without his piano and if he doesn’t follow through with his promisethis week to Bring It, he may be gone.

Megan JoyCorkrey is another story altogether and Mercury News reader Althea Battle says, “She’s like taffy. When you touch it, it’s hard to get off your hands! Her vocals are shaky and weak. Her (physical) looks score high points, but her time is running out.”

With theAmerican Idol judges turning on her last week, this week may finally be hertime to go home, but next to Scott MacIntrye she is more interesting and actually has shown brief flashes of talent with her distinctive voice.

This week could mean that it is the end for either Scott MacIntrye or Megan JoyCorkrey unless the pair step up to the plate and really perform. Then again American Idolviewers have surprised us before, so who knows!

Do you want Megan Joy Corkreyor Scott MacIntyre to go home this week? Is this season of American Idolone of the best ever? Tell us your thoughts on our American Idol message boards .
