Bio

on a cold november night in 2007, a chance meeting of two singing songwriters, led to a magical series of acoustic duet appearances, the songs came so easily, so naturally, the sound evolved to include banjo, slide guitar, bass and electric guitars, percussion, singing birds......
with the addition of christa hillhouse on bass, the sound continued to evolve...
ashley and george never lost their love of the intimate acoustic venues, and are known to make suprise appearances just about anywhere. and despite the increased use of electric instruments, Platte River Rain, could play a full night of original and unique songs in an "unplugged" format as easily and enjoyably as a full night of their electric/acoustic sound.
with influences ranging from legendary folk singer Nick Drake to modern local performers such as "It's true" to indie classics like Vampire Weekend, Ashley's lilting yet soulful vocals and sense of melody combined with a gift for poetry, make her a songwriter/performer second to none.
George counts such classic acoustic performers as Jorma Kaukonen, Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges, in juxtaposition with electric performers like Johnny Winter, Daevid Allen, even old Alice Cooper.
As a duet, their two guitars and two voices mesh in a unique and complete sound, equally thoughtful and rocking.
Performing for a scant six months, they have composed and performed enough material to carry an entire night on their own, with a few select friends who sit in on a regular basis, every night has the potential to be an experience all it's own.
With no official releases to date, Platte River Rain is currently recording material for thier first CD. Stay tuned for news on the ongoing process, and catch the band live for a night to remember.
