"Alamo brothers take their music on the road"

ALAMO TOWNSHIP -- The Christian rock band Please Promise should be mostly undaunted by a CD-release concert May 30 and a month-long Extreme Tour in August.

The brothers Pruis - Josh, 22, Jeremy, 19 and A.J., 16, who make up the trio, often play to a tough audience.

While being interviewed before a performance May 23 at the Plainwell Community Center, they were often drowned out by the conversations of audience members who had drifted outside for cigarettes, their talk frequently punctuated with ``f__ing'' this and ``f__ing'' that.

Acknowledging the obscenities and smoke, Please Promise spokesman, Josh, said: ``This is why we make it a point to serve as models.''

``We don't preach. It's just the way we act and the way we treat other bands and the people who come to our shows,'' Josh said.

``We're Christians. Jesus Christ is our Savior. All He asks from us is that we promise to believe in Him and follow Him.''

How does that translate?

``Don't drink, don't smoke at shows,'' Josh said.

``I have an occasional drink at home with my dad,'' Josh said. ``But there's more to it than that. We try to promote a more positive attitude toward life through our music, Josh said.

``The message is ``Love everybody,'' Josh said. ``It's not just Christian music, it's positive music,'' said Josh, the band's drummer. Jeremy plays electric bass and A.J., who writes the music and lyrics for the group, plays guitar.

Please Promise will release it's 34-minute CD at a performance beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Loft at the Third Reformed Church located at 2345 10th St in Kalamazoo. The CD comes with a $7 concert ticket.

Although the brothers have gone on short tours, a month-long bus trip with the Memphis-based Extreme Tour will be a new experience for them. ``The extreme tour has been a stepping stone for several large well known national acts,'' said the brothers' father, Mike Pruis, president of Esper Electric in Alamo. Please Promise was chosen as one of 30 bands to participate from 600 bands applying for the tour, Mike Pruis said.

The band will travel from Maine and New York to Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois. For more information online visit www.myspace.com/pleasepromise and www.purevolume.com/pleasepromise.

Lets push through together, and find out that there’s so much more than the trends upon our generation. –“You Know”

In an culture that is saturated with a glorification of sex, drugs, over-indulgence and materialistic idolatry, the boys in Please Promise are calling for something greater for their generation. With their second release, You’re Worth It, You’re Perfect, this Michigan born-and-raised trio is making this charge very clear.

“Our purpose is rather simple,” says Josh Pruis (drums). “ We play and write music we like, dress in the clothes that we dig, we don’t hide who we are, and we go to every show ready to love every person we encounter, because Jesus loved us first.”

Established in 2008, Please Promise is comprised of Josh, Jeremy and AJ Pruis. Surging with catchy melodies, poignant lyrics, rolling base riffs, and driving, yet tasteful beats; Please Promise constantly strives for musical perfection, and always delivers an energy packed performance. Their music brings the focus back to not only thinking positively, but living positively.

Life is too short for apathy and complacency. Lets move together.
