Preface:
This has been the most interesting and enteratining interview conducted in quite some time. The Plumpah Humpah All-Stars have found a way to market a growing factor of American culture that has been frowned upon for many years – Overweight People. The Plumpah Humpah All Stars is a group who truly finds the beauty of a pleasingly plump female. So much so, their group debut effort is a project that focuses on big women and a growing subculture of fetishists and real admirers. They call themselves the Wu Tang Clan of chubby chasers. Whether you find humor and/or admiration for the angle these cats have taken, you’ll have to agree this camp is nothing short of extraordinary.

Why this name?
Plumpah Humpah All Stars. We like to hump plump chicks. It's a fun and fat-friendly name. Plus most people have to at least crack a smile when they read it or hear someone say it. Entertainment needs to start with the name.

Do you play live?
We're playing a lot in California. We are planning to take the show on the road this summer. Keep it locked to this site for show dates.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet has made it possible for indie artists to see levels of success that was unheard of 15 - 20 years ago. It allows artists all over the world to work with each other without having to actually travel. Record companies are losing to downloads, but solid artists still have fans who will buy the albums and concert tickets. This just means the product developed by artists has to be extra tight in order to make someone choose to pay for product over downloading for free.

Would you still sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure. The resources of a major label are tremendous. We would consider a label deal if they would allow us to capitalize on our angle.

Your influences?
We're influenced by a lot of old school emcees and producers. Chubb Rock, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Hi C, DJ Quik, Ed OG & Da Bulldogs, Black Sheep, MC Hammer, Brand Nubian, Naughty By Nature, UMCs, Masta Ace, Big Daddy Kane, Positive K & Ice Cube. Pretty much rap music of the early to mid 90s influenced us.

Favorite spot?
At the house with some sexy big girls with pretty feet! Gotta love that.

Anything else...?
Support us! Promote us. BUY US! Tell everyone you know and don't know about us! Come and checkout the shows and get the music. What we have is truly different and unique. You will not be disappointed.

"Back to Square One...The Lastest Offering from Jonny T, the Number 1 Plumpah Humpah All Star"

The new CD from Jonny T takes hip-hop back to its simplest equation: a balance of hot tracks, tight lyrics, capable guests, and even a few conscience messages; something missing from the majority of albums released these days. The new CD, appropriately entitled Square One, bridges the gap between the new generation of hip-hop heads and old school hip-hop fans. “With this project, I wanted to make the type of product that was relatively safe for young kids to hear without the corny bubble gum subject matter, as well as fun and meaningful for hip-hop listeners that may not fully identify with today’s new artists. I wanted to respectively introduce and take people back to an era of the art when artists had a responsibility to say something meaningful if they were blessed with an opportunity to be heard, as well as take people back to simpler times. As a hip-hop traditionalist, this is my contribution to the culture to keep it authentic.”

Though the project’s lead singles Delicious Thickalicious and Let’s Get Together are radio friendly, they do not compromise the integrity of the album. The CD flows well from start to finish without any misguided sharp turns. Square One is 16 tracks of true hip-hop nostalgia. While Square One takes the listener back to a beginning point of the culture, I believe Jonny T has planted the seed and built a solid foundation for a very bright future.

Bio

The Plumpah Humpah All Stars bring a vibe and value to the hip hop art form that is unparallel to that of the majority of artists in today’s urban music scene. Clearly influenced by the era of conscience emcees, comical emcees, and the proverbial “golden era” of rap, expect a project from this camp to be nothing less than entertaining. Beyond club records, balance is achieved with a barrage of innovative, intelligent, well-versed, and figuratively defined lyrics.
