Pnuma

Pnuma arrives at a time when the music scene is in need of something new. With an already overwhelming amount of jam oriented acts searching to find their niche and separate themselves from the rest of the pack, Pnuma hits the scene with a refreshing new sound; a sound that meshes dance music elements with traditional jazz and funk sensibilities. Comprised of three young and talented musicians based out of the musical hotbed of Memphis-the oldest clocking-in at a mere 20 years old-this instrumental trio produces a sound much more poignant than would lead one to believe. Only four months into their existence, the band has already found their spot on the scene, a spot that can appeal to the twirl-dancing jam fans, the head-bobbing hip hop heads and the electronic dance party fanatics.
Formed through a mutual friend who knew of three kids trying to put together a jazz-infused electronic outfit, Pnuma’s story began as a musical meeting in Virginia. There, the three founding members met, played together and a week later Pnuma decided that they were meant to play together. The trio quickly discovered their sound and made the move to Memphis, Tennessee. From the start, it was meant to be and it’s all a progression from there. Make no mistake, Pnuma is here to stay.

The Sound

Pnuma’s innovative brand of atmospheric soul trance is a captivating melange of smooth jazz and synthesized electronica peppered with some old school funk. Pnuma allows their musicianship to speak for itself, offering beat-driven, precise compositions that still allow ample room for free thought and movement. It’s instrumental, improvisational dance music for a new era in the live electronic realm.
