Poc Dawone

Poc Dawone aka Allen Maldonado was born May 20, 1983 in the city of bellflower, California and named after his mother Alleen. As a child Allen started to entertain at the early age of five. “He would hit the floor at the slightest sound of music” Says his mother. At the age of seven things started to change for Allen due to the dangerous environment and some of his neighbors in Compton. He, his mother and two older sisters moved into a home in Rialto, California. His Father Ivan Maldonado who is now deceased was a native of Puerto Rico and lived in Harlem, New York. His mother Alleen Hood is African American from Ramen, Alabama but now resides in California. His mother would have him listen to soul and blues music from the south while his father and extended family exposed him to salsa, meringue, and east coast rap. Being raised on the west coast gave Poc an introduction to West coast rap and G-funk. Poc’s style of music is a reflection of him being a multifaceted individual. Poc’s music influences comes from many different artist such as Sam Cooke, Jay-Z, 2 Pac, Biggie, Talib Kwali, and Jonnie Taylor just to name a few. In the immediate future Poc Dawone also has three films that will be premiering this year. They are as followed: “God’s Amy 2: States of Grace”, “America 101”, as a smart mouth sarcastic ticket clerk, and “A Beautiful Life” as portfolio a young aspiring guitar player. “All things and opportunities that have come for me have all been due to the grace of god and hard work ethics” Says Poc. He’s currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on his debut album entitled “Damn Right”. “This album is from the heart” he says. “It has a lot of fun tracks included but at times it can get dark touching on my thoughts and the recent life threatening accident involving me and three other actors on November 12”. “It was tough but I’m recovering”. Poc is currently working on getting signed and a couple of new song for upcoming film soundtracks.
