Still working on that hot first release.

Sydney-based solo artist POEM started out as a writer and naturally transitioned his talent to include music. Poem has distinguished himself within the underground urban music scene both in Australia and New Zealand as an artist with multiple attributes. Wellington born and raised in Christchurch (New Zealand) guitarist, rapper and singer songwriter Poem channels his positive energy and life experiences into his music.

Coming from a strong Maori background, Poem’s cultural upbringing and 12 years spent in Australia has shaped his unique out look on life. Poem’s musical influences stretch from old school R&B legends ‘Stevie Wonder’, ‘Marvin Gaye’, and ‘Michael Jackson’, to Hip-hop prodigies ‘Bone Thugs n Harmony’ and ‘Tech N9ne’. Poem is frequently working and experimenting with different styles from smooth R&B vocals to raw Hip-hop (shown in his E.P “Versatile” – released 2011).

Over the last four years Poem has performed original material at various events around Australia and New Zealand, including “Bring It On Youth Festival” where he was the headlining act to a sold out show of 8000 patrons. POEM has performed at several cultural and community events including Cabramatta Moon Festival, Liquidfest (Canberra), Parramatta Youth Festival, Waitangi Day Festival (Brisbane); concerts and tours including the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert, New Zealand’s Dj Manchoo as a support act at the Coogee Bay Hotel and the Gaelic Theatre, Bone Thugs n Harmony Australian Tour, The Outlawz – Tupac Still Breathing Australian Tour and with Smashproof – Smashproof Weekend Tour (New Zealand).

As an independent artist Poem is currently recording new tracks for his next E.P “Who I Am” due to be released August 2012. Along side his new EP, Poem is also working on his album which will feature both Australian and international artists.

Honoured to be representing the Australasian music scene; Poem is destined to succeed.
