I am not a performer...... but a writer of lyrics. I call them poem/songs. They are the songs of my heart and my faith.

Biography

My poem/songs are Christian in nature, but could be applied to almost any faith. They are simple expressions of my heart and my faith. I started writing them down last year, but I didn't know what to do with them. I shared them with some folks at my church, and some of them...... retired English teachers even....... thought they were pretty good. I really think of these as songs of my heart........ but I can't hear the music. I am humbly submitting a few of them to see if anyone else can.

I don't know exactly what I would do with extra $$ if ever God blesses me with any. I am sure an earlier or better retirement would be possible. In my Sunday School class....... a great group of women...... I listened humbly to stories of things women have done for others. One story was of a local woman who had taken in children from foreign lands who had special medical needs. She cares for them and helps them through surgeries or other difficulties, then returns them to their home. She does these things at her own expense. I thought what a wonderful ministry and a blessing for these little ones. I am in awe of folks who do great good with their lives and their resources. I don't know what God has in mind for me, but I am certain I could do more for others and for Him. I am not a fully formed Christian as yet. Though I hold fast to the promises of eternity, I know there is much I could do with the life I have left.

Images (September 2006)

Written By: Lucinda Mitchell

Life's fortune can't be measured in silver or gold
Wealth and success leave us empty and cold
The eyes of time are my earthly fortune
Gifts and expectations
Reflections of images painted on my soul

In the eyes of my mother
I see love, joy and tenderness
My father's eyes reflect love, pride and strength
I look into their eyes
And I know I am their child
I know that I am loved
And I know that they trust me to be there

In my youth I learned to love my friend
Room in my heart for his dreams
Room in his heart for my dreams
I look into his eyes
I see my children
I see our children
We stand before God and we promise to be there

When I first beheld the eyes of my children
Reflections of wonder and delight
The precious gift
The awesome responsibility
I look into their eyes
I see my children
I see their children
I see an all consuming love
And I know that I must be there

In prayer I close my eyes
And look into the eyes of God
Reflections there both peace and pain
My soul unmasked from the veil of self deception
I see love, forgiveness and amazing grace
I know that I am loved
I see eternity
And I know that He will be there

Child (October 2006)

Written By: Lucinda Mitchell

I am just like a child, left alone in the dark
fear and distress cloud my mind
I walk the wrong road, led by selfish ambition
weariness o'ertakes me, confusion surrounds me
When I look to the future, hope is not there
I cry out to God....where are you?.......I'm afraid

God's answer is painful in stark honesty
He opens my eyes, I'm defined in His light
Chasing earthly treasure, I gave the world my best
Blinded by self deception, I refused to know truth
Now afraid and unworthy to look upon His face
He says......turn around......I am here

God reaches down and gathers me close
blankets of love lie gently above me
disappointment is bearable, sorrow eases and fades
the chains of sin weaken and fall fast away
My face turning heav'nward, I lift new found wings
He says........nothing holds you.......you are free

I am steeped in His love, and I rise new and whole
My being has purpose, my hope is restored
Free to submit to His will and his wisdom
Finding His way, for me no greater goal
Others who need Him, A God I must serve
I ask Him the way.....He says..........follow me

Wherever He walks and I'm willing to follow
The path will shine clear, the mission revealed
Being used by the Master, obedient and free
Rewards of submission are made known to me
Peace stealing in, joy follows too
Time and eternity......He says.......I'll be there

He Leads (October 2006)

Written By: Lucinda Mitchell

When ever He speaks and I am willing to listen
Where ever He leads and I am willing to go
The road may be filled with temptation and longing
But He gives me His hand, and I walk safely through
His words are our light, His words are our lesson
He speaks with His wisdom to make the way clear
His love will not fail us, If we will but trust Him
He leads the way and we follow Him there

What ever His vision, He gives me new eyes
Where ever He leads and I am willing to go
The road may be dark and the road may be lonely
But he gives me His hand, and I walk safely through
His eyes can see past our sin and deception
He offers us hope and new life in Him
His love will not fail us, If we will but trust Him
He leads the way and we follow Him there

What ever He touches, What ever He treasures
Where ever He leads and I am willing to go
The road may be rough and the road may be rocky
But He gives me His hand and I walk safely through
He covers our hearts with the warmth of compassion
His blessed hands will relieve suffering
His love will not fail us, If we will but trust Him
He leads the way and we follow Him there

Where ever he walks and I am willing to follow
Where ever He leads and I am willing to go
The road may be long and I may be weary
But He gives me His hand and I walk safely through
He restores hope and He banishes sadness
Where ever He walks, the fallen will rise
His love will not fail us, If we will but trust Him
He leads the way and we follow Him there
