Bio

Poetic was born Styron T. Batchelor on Nov 7, 1983 in Naples, Italy. Moving home to Detroit, Mi, Poetic was enrolled in the Detroit Public School system attending Malcolm X Academy through middle school and Mumford High School where he graduated in 2001.Shortly after graduation Poetic joined The U.S Army where he served for five years  including a tour of duty in Iraq. Poetic is in a unique position, having served his country during "Operation Iraqi Freedom." His voice carries the weight of vast experience and in a perspective where he shares his world view which appears uncommon for most young men his age.

Returning home, Poetic found an avenue to channel his talent through the recording studio. Through his vision he made his way into both regional and national film projects recorded in the traditional areas of The Motor City. With the mentorship of seasoned professionals on every level of the music industry, he has gained the business perspective necessary in order to elevate into his maximum potential as an entrepreneur, artist and actor. With this experience Poetic wrote, recorded and served as executive producer on his first album, Inner City Blues, in Partnership with Thomas Harold Bowles Jr and Silent Riot Productions.

Poetic is an alumni of both the Recording Institute of Detroit and Specs Howard School of Media Arts. Poetic's desire is to be given the opportunity to create and sustain a presence as an entertainer, as well as a creative enigma in his respective fields. Employing various marketing strategies that will successfully lead his career to success, he will potentially create a cross-generational appeal in both his music as well as his vision

As a performer, Poetic has opened for Will Downing, Lalah Hathaway, Sky Covington, Paul Mooney, Sinbad and Gerald Albright. Poetic has also graced the stage at Detroit's Annual African World Festival. Poetic worked as an on-air personality for WGPR and WCHB as an apprentice to Detroit's legendary radio icon, John Mason.

Poetic is currently working on the release of his first book, Thoughts of a Dangerous Mind, as well studying film directing and editing at the Motion Picture Institute (MPI). Poetic is a radio personality at Urban Nation Radio, an audio/visual internet radio/live stream network that is community based and focused. He is one of hosts of the network's popular morning show, The Brunch Bunch.
