They may only be three-strong, but Joint Effort have the musical chops and talent of a dozen. With guitar riffs supplied by Neil Durr, the musicality has strong similarity to the jams of Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughan, capturing some of the essence of blues and blending it with their rock and hip-hop bedrock. Flawless bass lines from the hands of Durr's brother Evan tie together the sick string work with the lyrically-rich verses spilled by vocalist Eric Means (Poetic Endurance). Laying down equal parts philosophy and commentary, Means freestyles are as poignant and evocative as Flobots or Lupe Fiasco. Poetic Endurance is an artist who reflects the true essence of the hip-hop culture. His progressive and witty style is mirrored by NONE, and his music never alludes his message. This kid was made for the underground, from his controversial content, to his over all distain for the heavily consumerist music scene of the time. As soon as he fully grasped his talent level, he began his crusade against mindless music; he has been quoted saying "If you can rap about anything, then you may as well rap about something." The name Poetic Endurance accuratley portray's the artist as more of a writter than a rapper since he employs several litterary techniques within his music (if people would understand it, he would write a song in Iambic Pentameter). He has played over 300 shows across the east coast as a former member of the band Joint Effort. During his 3 year stint with the Hip-Hop fusion band, he crafted his singing voice to add to his diversity as an artist. He honed his songwriting ability and is now able to make full compositions under his own artistic direction. He is now focused on his various collaborative efforts; blurring the Hip Hop distinction and bending genres!
