Lyrics

A Calico Apron

Written By: Sharmagne Leland-St. John

A calico apron
Ain't got no strings
My lady never tried
To clip my wings

Any good woman
Can cook and sew
But my sweet lady
Knows how to let go

There's a wicker basket
Full of yarn
In an old white house
With a big red barn

Mama's teapot
China blue
The old brown clock
That stopped at two

My ladies shawl draped
Over her chair
Lavender scent
Hangin' on the air

The old piano's
Out of tune
But my lady knows
That I'm comin' home soon

Lemon-eyed cat
Sleepin' in the sun
Days go by
One by one

Can't make no money
Singin' my songs
One night gigs
Don't last too long

Nightclubs, barrooms
Bring me down
Can't keep driftin'
From town to town

Sold my watch
My golden chain
So I could be
In her arms again

Caught a ride
That passed my way
I'm goin' home
This time I'll stay

Lemon eyed cat
Sleepin' in the sun
Days go by
Oh, one by one

My lady's shawl
Draped over her chair
Lavander scent
Hangin' on the air

Jimmy's Song

Written By: Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Momma said turn the radio on
They're playin' Jimmy's song
He finally made the top ten
Oh Lord he's tried so long

Jimmy played the guitar
Jimmy paid his dues
Jimmy traveled far and wide
And Jimmy sang the blues

We never thought he'd make it
But Momma said that ain't so
He left home at seventeen
It seems so long ago

Oh he could bring a tear to your eye
If only you'd listen awhile
And Jimmy knows that old guitar
Like he knows his mother's smile

Jimmy played the guitar
Jimmy paid his dues
Jimmy traveled far and wide
And Jimmy sang the blues

We always thought he'd come back home
We'd watch the road both night and day
Momma'd read us his letters
And every night she'd pray

Oh Lord I ain't askin' much
Just help my Jimmy along
Cause Lord you know he's a real good boy
And he sings a grand old song

Oh he could bring a tear to your eye
If only you'd listen awhile
And Jimmy knows that old guitar
Like he knows his mother's smile

Jimmy played the guitar
Jimmy paid his dues
Jimmy traveled far and wide
And Jimmy sang the blues

Oh he could bring a tear to your eye
If only you'd listen awhile
And Jimmy knows that old guitar
Like he knows his mother's smile

Well Momma kept the faith
And you know she wasn't wrong
It's good to see her standin' by the stove
Just a hummin' Jimmy's song

Just One MOre Tomorrow

Written By: Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Just one more tomorrow
Just one more night of rain
Just one more misty moonlight
And I'll be home again
Bringing my love on home to you

Darlin' I'm comin' home soon

Just one more clock a tickin'
Just one more train a clickin'
Upon that silver track
Just one more heartbreak hotel
Before I'm comin' back

Darlin' I'm comin' home soon

Just one more night without you
Just one more smoke filled room
Just one more club in Nashville
Just one more night of gloom.
I'll be bringin' my love on home to you

Darlin' I'm comin' home soon

Just one more clock a tickin'
Just one more train a clickin'
Upon that silver track
Just one more rain slicked highway
Before I'm comin' back

Darlin' I'm comin' home soon

Just one more guitar chord
Just one more song a singin'
Just one more "All Aboard"
And I'll be bringin'
My love on home to you

Darlin' I'm comin' soon

Just one more clock a tickin'
Just one more train a clickin'
Upon that silver track
Just one more midnight station
Before I'm comin' back

Darlin' I'm comin' home soon

Just one more tomorrow
Just one more sad refrain
Just one more misty moonlight
And I'll be home again
Bringing my love on home to you

Darlin' I'm comin home soon
