In Los Angeles, on the Sunset Strip, everybody knows their name. The biggest draw, the coolest tunes, the best gigs, are those of Poets and Pornstars.

The LA Times described their sound as “a chest pounding mélange of electric gloss.” Sugarbuzz Magazine described the alchemy of “our fave local band” as “a little bit pop, punk and power.” Many others have tried to put into words what makes L.A.’s favorite band feel so damn good, but the story is told, as their fans will affirm, in three simple words...“Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Poets and Pornstars are just the real deal.

Frontman Hal Ozsan was raised in Essex, on the edge of East London, “the New Jersey of England” as he describes it. “Home to all that is tacky, loud and obnoxious,” a fact he wears proudly as a badge of honor and credits as the reason he must love Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Ozsan moved to LA after turning down college and in 2003 formed Poets and Pornstars.

Within three months Poets had played every major venue in LA, and the sensational buzz landed them a residency at the infamous Viper Room. That summer it turned into an eight week stint, one of the longest residencies in the club’s history. The Viper Room started throwing “No Cover” Poets gigs (an extraordinary turn of events) every Friday night. The scene started assuming surreal proportions as LA “tastemakers” and the “young Hollywood” crowd caught wind of the hot new band in town and started turning up in droves to cash in on the cool. Starlets in the booths, fans in the front row, that summer, Friday nights started with a Poets show.

“He brings the women to their knees and the men to their feet” said the Viper Room’s Dayle Gloria. And he did. Week after week.

The following year they recorded a full length album at NRG and Capitol Studios. After a brief working flirtation with industry heavyweights The Firm and Immortal, Poets signed a management deal with ex-Snr VP of Capitol Records, Dan Hubbert.

Poets & Pornstars are Hal Ozsan (vox, guitar), Sally Hope (bass), Tom Domaracki (guitar), Randy Austin (keys), and Dave Plesh (drums).

Recently KLOS FM and Bon Jovi discovered Poets' own brand of rock and roll swagger when they were chosen, above all the bands in Los Angeles, OC, and San Diego, to open for Bon Jovi at the prestigious "Anaheim Pond," in front of 15,ooo people. Needless to say, they rocked the house. They have recently placed songs on six film soundtracks including Toronto Film Festival feature “Little Athens” where they share the bill with Radiohead. They have opened for Buckcherry, Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes and Tim Burgess of The Charlatans UK and continue to grow as the most popular band in LA to see.

“America’s been waiting for this band, they’re gonna be huge...” Crazytown
