Bio
Luke Tracey Newmann is a poet, visual artist and singer songwriter, winner of the 2011 South Country Fair songwriting competition. He performs his original songs playing a range of instruments: guitar, harmonica, banjo, mandolin, percussion, and bass.
Luke's musical career began in a cover band, but he always held the dream of becoming an original songwriter. In 2007 he started studying and writing poetry; soon he was setting poems to music and building a repertoire of original songs. To date, he has about 60 songs ranging from acoustic folk and country to medieval ballads and acoustic blues.
The inspiration for Luke's songs come from life, work experiences and personal relationships along the way. You'll hear in a set of Luke's music with just about every aspect of the human condition: love, heartbreak, social change, addiction, and historical events.
Luke mixes a saucy limerick or two into his set list and varies his songs' sound using harmonica, mandolin, banjo, percussion, etc. Luke continues to study and write poetry.
