Bio

POLA is a London-based singer/songwriter discovered by the legendary top selling UK producer Robin Millar, the man behind the success of SADE, Patricia Kaas, Ive Mendes and Everything But the Girl.

Robin says, “Pola approached me via my website two years ago with a dream and a bunch of very simple little demos. At first I was not sure there was anything to be done. Then three things happened. First, I heard something in the voice that made me know that if a lot of people heard that voice they would love it. You’re either born with that or you aren’t. Boy George had it, Sade had it, Tracey Thorn had it…and Pola had it. The second thing I heard was determination, ambition, single mindedness and self-belief. The third thing that happened is that I started ‘producing’ her music in my mind without being paid and without being asked to”.

Among those performing on the debut album is Emmy and British Academy Award winning composer/arranger/saxophonist John Altman, whose long list of credits includes co writing Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life and arranging for and playing with Van Morrison, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, George Michael, Bjork, Barry White, Bob Marley and many more. John says:

“Pola’s music is like a breath of fresh air. The songs match the personality totally, and her unique style and sincerity shines through all she writes and performs. It's a pleasure to create music with her”.

In May 2009 Pola debuted singing 'Blame it on the Moon' at Sony Music’s Smooth Festival minutes before Macy Gray took the stage. The performance in front of 10.000 audience was broadcasted live to 4 million viewers. Early 2010 her first album 'My Favourite Town' produced by Robin Millar (SADE, Everything But the Girl, Patricia Kaas) and Ned Bigham ( Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis) was released. Since then, she gave performed in Poland, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, China and Sweden, she also was the guest star of the London Fashion Week opening, where she presented songs from her first album.

At the moment Pola is writing material for her second album alongside John Altman, Anne Wu and many other talented musicians.
Her new single “Let's go home” written in aid of homeless animals, is out on the 21st of December 2012 and both the song and the music video featuring Hollywood celebrity Ian Ziering are available for purchase via iTunes globally.
