Bio

In the over-saturated, over-crowded land of urban music, anybody can hop on the mic and call himself an artist. However, every so often, a true craftsman comes along and slaps the game with authenticity, versatility and flavor. Polar is one such artist. Towering at 6'7”, dreadlocks, a fresh 'fit and a pearly white smile; Polar's stature and striking looks easily distinguish him as a man to focus on, but it's his distinct charisma, style and persona that cause him to stand out.

A California native, R'Cell Harris grew up in North Oakland in a rough area christened the “North Pole” who's folk are known as “Polar Bears”. Carrying his roots with him, he adopted the nickname and made it his own. A naturally driven young man, he pushed himself to become a notable basketball player, a talent that would take him far in college. Although ball helped to mold P, he had another passion.

In the 70's, Polar's father had owned one of the hottest nightclubs in the area, practicing the art of Disk Jockeying. Growing up in the Bay, notorious for artists such as Mistah Fab, Mac Dre, and E-40, an attraction to music was deeply fostered in Polar.. A go-getter from the start, a young Polar began experimenting with his computer and mic, recording, mixing and mastering his first rap. “It sounded so terrible because of the quality but you can tell there was potential there” he recalls.

Moving to Emporia, Kansas to continue his education and basketball career, Polar continued to develop his musical abilities. Meeting artist Manish Law and producer/engineer Twrexxx, members of the musical crew Buckhead of Wichita, Kansas, would be an encounter that changed his life. “I met Manish and Wrexxx, and we talked music. We listened to each other's work and then I spit something for Manish. He instantly asked me to join the [Buckhead] family and I happy accepted!” Polar explains. He then relocated to Wichita to concrete his Buckhead membership and pursue a professional music career. Polar's endless drive and disregard for limits have since enabled him to perfect his skills as a recording artist, songwriter, producer, engineer, and persona; an undeniable presence.
