It’s not that often that I stumble across an artist and immediately dig everything they are doing, but today is different, I have stumbled across PONCHOS. Ponchos, a Boston/Chicago producer who is started making music out of his bedroom studio has a distinct sound that I really seem to enjoy. If I had to compare Ponchos to anyone, I would say it’s like a more upbeat Youth Lagoon or something like an electronic version of Animal Collective. He uses some spaced out synths, soft vocals and explores with different sounds for a really nice finished product. There is very little information about Ponchos out there on the internet, but I do know one thing. All of his music is for free on his soundcloud. A mysterious electronic specialist under the name Ponchos is creating magnificent soundscapes. There's not much to be revealed except Ponchos resides in Boston and he has put out several EPs since 2011. The latest, entitled Right Time was released a couple of months ago. You can download all of his music for free through his soundcloud and bandcamp. The digital structures of Ponchos are brilliant. Each of his work carries you to a place greater. Sometimes far away, sometimes close within. His music is currently invading all the corners of my bedroom as visions of sunny fields of grass are projected on my walls. It's beautiful. In the grand scheme of things, ten minutes really isn’t that long. Showers take ten minutes, so do shits, and so does “This World Is Not My Home,” from anonymous 21-year-old Bostononian, Ponchos. It’s clear from the ET singing through Roger Troutman’s half-chewed talk-box vocals that earth is no place for this song’s creator and that he’d probably feel more at home in the comfort of a curb-scraping, battery-powered, Lego-assembled space shuttle orbiting the moon.
