PONCHO VILLA

During the beginnings of the digital music revolution,

rapper/producer Poncho Villa grew up making beats

and writing rhymes. By age 18, he became a self-

proclaimed musical genius. A Washington D.C. native,

Poncho further defined his dream of becoming a major

player in the music industry and began studying Music

Business Management at the prestigious Howard

University. In 1995, his impressive style of blending

elements from both East and West, as well as the

South, won him The USA Songwriting Competition

placing in both the Hip-Hop and R&B categories. He

later honed his skills at the Omega Engineering

School where he was formally trained in the recording

arts, and continued to craft the sound that

characterized his life and vision of sending D.C. into

the number one spot of the music game.

The next big move was starting Thorolife

Entertainment where he began working with the best

local talent D.C. had to offer. Producing for the likes

of XO, Loonatyk, IRenna & AWOL, Montana Stacks,

Bubb & Hot Rodd, Deveus Wayz, Angel B, and Ms.

Mina, Poncho Villa independently released back-to-

back compilations, “The State of Emergency Mixtape”,

and it's follow-up, “The Road to Redemption” which is

now considered a classic. The Sequal Album "Road

To Redemption-Part 2", Is scheduled to drop early

2007 and is destined to be the breakthrough album

that forces the industry to take notice.

As an artist, Poncho finds inspiration from Hip-Hop’s

producer renaissance of the late 80s and 90s;

producers such as DJ Premier and Dr. Dre and more

contemporary producers Timbaland and Kanye West.

Guided by God and motivated by his young son,

Poncho Villa is driven to bring integrity back into Hip

-Hop and to make the kind of music anyone can enjoy.
