"Pool Cosby - Little Do They Know (Ft. Adrianne Lenker)"

Why do we like this?
I have something on the awesome side of smooth minimal indietronica for you today. It's been out for a while and I've known about it for a while, but I've been a bit tardy about getting up. It's a case of better late than never!

This track is all out of Brooklyn. Not only are Pool Cosby based there but the vocalist featured in this track, Adrianne Lenker, is part of another Brooklyn-based band called Big Thief.

There's something minimal and effortless about this track. Perfect for late summer. It comes from Pool Cosby's upcoming album due out later this summer. - Indie Shuffle

"Kick off your weekend with "Lookin' Up" from Pool Cosby [Premiere]"

Brooklyn-based trio Pool Cosby are an interesting batch. Their music is one part hip-hop, one part contemporary r&b, one party electronic dance movie, poured over pop. They never confine themselves to one style, as they showcase in "Please" which marries hip-hop bars with fluttering electronica. Their latest single "Lookin' Up" features vocalists from Valentein and is another surprising release from the ever-changing trio. It's a gentle and grooving track that marries subtle synths and percussion with Valentein's warm and inviting voice. This track is taken off their forthcoming album which will feature artists like Raekwon (Wu-Tang Clan) and Adrianne Lenker.

"Discover: Pool Cosby – “Little Do They Know”"

Sitting in a Jazz club sipping on bourbon, relaxed and at ease, are the thoughts that come to mind when listening to “Little Do They Know” by Pool Cobsy. The Brooklyn based trio’s newest track is the first release off their forthcoming full-length featuring sounds of electronic blended jazz, hip-hop, and pop paired with live strings, brass, and woodwinds. - C-Heads Magazine

"Pool Cosby - Next Level"

Pool Cosby are an interesting bunch. With little background on the group, I accepted an invite to NYC's Webster Hall on a frigid night to check out the band with a perplexing name and intriguing sound.

They took their place on stage in The Studio, which in reality is a glorified basement that's reminiscent of a frat house bottom floor. A strong crowd was in the house to see Joseph Caravalho (producer), Kristine Kruta (cello), Nacor Zuluaga Morelo (drums), and Kevin Kuh (violin/exotic dancer) showcase their skills. They satiated ears for what seemed to be about 45 minutes, and had the place moving to tracks like "Next Level," "Video Games," and "Can't Wait."

Their indigenous NYC forward-thinking electronic music, which has been crafted at Engine Room Audio in the Financial District, is energizing, chill, and uplifting all at the same time. Pool Cosby has a sound that is their own, and each individual is extremely talented as a musician. Rather than one outshining the other, they build off each other's skills.

You can dig into their EP Can't Wait here, and a live show is without doubt recommended by your neighborhood Indie Shuffle contributor. Lastly, in case you are wondering who that is in the featured song's intro, it's the unmistakable Jim Morrison on the future of music. - Indie Shuffle

"Pool Cosby - Little Do They Know"

With a talent for merging the worlds of hip-hop and electronic, Pool Cosby are back with their latest single “Little Do They Know” accompanied by playful visuals that showcase the sample-based band’s creative strength. Blending their chill, alternative sound with a soothing melody and the refreshing vocals of Big Theif’s Adrianne Lenker this joyful track will leave you reminiscent of happy memories and a warm, summer day.

Consisting of producer Jacuzzi Jefferson, violinist Kevin Kuh, and drummer Otto Botté, Pool Cosby started gaining attention in the Brooklyn music scene back in 2012, achieving #1 on Reverbnation’s list of top experimental artists in Brooklyn shortly after. They consistently produce tracks that blend a variety of genres, proving that electronic music is all about taking the familiar and creating something new.

“Little Do They Know” is taken off their forthcoming album due out this summer featuring a blend of Hip-Hop, Pop, and R&B paired with live strings, brass and woodwinds. The highly anticipated album will also feature an eclectic list of featured artists including legendary rapper Raekwon (Wu-Tang Clan) and Adrianne Lenker. - EDM Sauce

"Pool Cosby Cook Up Your Labor Day Weekend BBQ Soundtrack. Pool Party Volume 2"

"Exclusive EP Premiere: Pool Cosby, "Can't Wait""

ARTISTdirect has teamed up with Pool Cosby to stream their EP, Can't Wait.

The Brooklyn-based collective Pool Cosby formed in the summer 2012 by Joseph Caravalho and Andrew "DruTang" Klein. Both artists have impressive resumes in the music industry. DruTang has produced for Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa, while Joe has engineered albums for 50 Cent and Melanie Fiona. He's also assisted on albums for Trey Songz, Sean Paul, AraabMuzik, Theophilus London, Big K.R.I.T. and more. The live show features Joe Caravalho, Kristine Kruta on cello, Nacor Zuluaga Morelo on drums, Kevin Kuh and violin and Alex Wong on viola.

The band will be performing at Piano's in NYC on Monday, July 1 –that's today-- to celebrate the EP release. The first 50 people to arrive get a free copy of Can't Wait. "Can't Wait took about three months to make on my end," Caravalho told us. "Kristine Kruta, who arranges all the string parts, is just insanely talented and was able to do everything in a couple of days. Our first release was the self-titled full length and that album was arranged to tell a story. Can’t Wait is a collection of songs that sounded right together. We have a ton of songs that are just waiting for the right package to release. These songs were right for this EP. It was exactly where I wanted to go next. I didn’t want to just throw a song out; I wanted to have a finished product with the right flow of a proper EP, front to back. Even if it means taking months after the first song is done to find similar tracks to package together. After I had the right songs and the EP was ready to go, I handed it over to the amazing team at Engine Room. It was mixed by Gabe MG and mastered by Dan Millice. The two of them are definitely a big part of the sound. They are part of Pool Cosby which, at its simplest is me and a laptop, but at its best it is me, Kristine, Nacor, Kevin, Alex, Gabe and Dan."

"Pool Cosby Plays Pianos"

So you feel like hitting the city and dancing? Make sure Pool Cosby isn’t playing a gig first because they will make your regular DJ look like a kid with some pots and pans on the floor. Pool Cosby is a different animal than your regular hip-hop, EDM, mashup group for a few reasons, the biggest being the strings added by Violinist Kevin Kuh and Kristine Kruta on the cello, that added with Nacor Zuluaga Morelo pounding on the drums and maestro Joseph Caravalho on the digital, give Pool Cosby a sound like no other.

Here at Pancakes and Whiskey we were lucky enough to be part of the Pool Cosby listening party a few weeks ago at a downtown recording studio where the new tracks were played in their entirety. It was an eye opening experience to hear how the whole thing was recorded and put together. Situated in the control room of the studio we were treated to mashups involving Sigur Ros, Marvin Gaye, Frank Ocean and many others, the smooth beats had all in attendance bobbing their heads in approval.

Flip forward a few weeks and Pool Cosby hit the Pianos stage to perform the new material to a packed house.

As soon as the beats started the dance party was in full affect. I was unsure on how the things I heard in the studio would be translated live but the group effortlessly performed them with vigor.

Be sure to listen to Pool Cosby’s new joint here; http://poolcosby.bandcamp.com/ and check them out at their next show, April 4th at Cameo Gallery. - Pancakes and Whiskey

"POOL COSBY’S “LITTLE DO THEY KNOW “ IS BEST LISTENED TO AMONGST FRIENDS"

When it comes to laid-back summer jams, Brooklyn-based Pool Cosby is positively doing it right. The trio’s tune “Little Do They Know” curates the proper sunrise/sunset vibes that can only be shared amongst a group of your closest friends. From the smooth sax introduction to Adrianne Lenker’s playfully manipulated voice, Pool Cosby’s “Little Do They Know” fits perfectly on loop as we bid farewell to the summer of 2016. - Nest HQ

"Pool Cosby, Coalition, and Pol The Fisherman play the Studio at Webster Hall"

POOL COSBY: Opened the night up with some FUNKY, dance what yo momma gave you, hybrid music. Kicking off a night of dancing which didn’t stop til the last beat of the night… - Pancakes and Whiskey

"Pool Cosby: Purple"

(Translated from Swedish)

Pool Cosby is a new musician based in Brooklyn, New York, who, with his eponymous debut album Pool Cosby released 13 instrumental songs, whose only songs / voices composed of bits from movies, television and assorted dialogues. I was going to recommend one of the album's favorite songs, one that actually differs from the others quite uplifting songs.

"Purple" is the last and most rugged track on the album, which does not leave much room for the usually more hip hop / electronica-esque vibe that pulsates in the album. Although there are some superb songs on the album itself, I can not resist enjoying the "Purple" for its Esbjörn Svensson-influenced sound of modern jazz.

The "Purple" has pool Cosby made ??a song designed for late road trips in the back seat on the way home. However, I will refrain from painting up too many images for you right now, because jazz is a genre that can actually make it that much better myself. With a recommendation to listen to Pool Cosbys "Purple", I can also recommend a listen to the entire album. It's a cozy trip into a kind of instrumental urban environment, including boom bap rhythms, beautiful piano and waltzing strings. - Vito Gogola
