SHORELINE

IM EATIN MY PIZZA STARTING WITH THE CRUST MOM! last track first lets see what the closing statement says about the piece

//i click play

the GENTLEST of guitar arpeggios tickles across itself, rocks hopping on a pound and our vocalist join in.

a very nice texture of GUITAR AND VOICE

FUN FACT: the guitar was actually the first instrument ever made (????)

we navigate many shifting harmonies we are the boat on an ocean with the waves of today gently guiding us

the melody is serpentine weaving through...

this is like a lost radiohead track?!?! LISTENERS! TAKE NOTE OF PRODUCTION - one might choose just to have a solo guitar in support, but add in some synth lots of echoing vocals and some backwards talking and that RADIOHEAD GUY would try and steal this for his BAND hahaha

AHH! the sounds of water... shoreline... home... we are home now...

RATING - NOT FOR FIRST DATES

DRIFTER
MORE MORE guitar. the picker has skills and the guitar goes "DEEDLE DO!!!" at key moments. this is hypnotic. PARSELYYY SSAAAGEEE ROSEMARRY AND THYYMEE

oh a moist orator arrives, telling me where to go. THE SPACE he uses for his..

:56 WOW THE WHOLE PLEASANT JUNGLE JUST CHIMED IN!!!

REALLY enjoying this texture its very smooth but busy, reminds me of small insects buzzing about , not dangerous, but makes one curious

again this PRODUCTION.....

POLARIS PRIZE? why not.

wow does anyone else feel like they are on a long drive to a new place or ... ? you can sit in the passenger seat, POOR MAN'S FANTASY will do all the driving and point out interesting things..

2:20 a beautiful sound melodizes... ahh.... im sad... i see that the song is over soon? to be honest i wanted to drift for MUCH LONGER...

musicians need not be afraid of 10 minute songs.. ahh, drifter, SO NICE!

WOLF FEEDS

WOW the timbral changes are nice, we go from very smooth of the last track to a jagged CLIP CLOP of a horses hooves.

minor chords are heard

feelings of ... hmm.. i feel introspective..

oh WOW the two chords we bounce between are just lovely the stringed instrument, perhaps a 12 stringed guitar, is doing an EXCELLENT job of singing its praises while the singer ....

1:30 and we hear VERY nice sounds, im VERY taken aback by these rich textures... so much is going on but never does a sound take away from another

these sounds function a lot like a rainbow.. yes we can appreciate each element but we are in awe that we get to see them all together as the most beautiful message from the world.

RATING - IF THE FIRST DATE WENT POORLY !!!

RILEY PARK

one more!

wow the songs just blend together its VERY difficult to tell them to stop,, this is music at a pure form JOURNEY ORIENTED not just catchy chorus material its VERY important to just open your ears and resist re-listening to a favorite song and just HEAR what happens next.

oh wow this percussion section, HOW can you say no? haha we couldnt!

1:45 and the melody is joined by some interesting synth sounds .. the vocals are washing more into the texture

2:03

WOW GOOSEBUMPS! this is what i live for this is beautiful this is beautiful im done talking just listen

2:55 and an ascent to the depths of ... somewhere, some where RARE and HONEST

and the single strings pluck out acapella almost..

JOINED! bass... basss.

RATING- these textures ladies and gentleman, are the warmest blanket you have ever had.

"Poor Man's Fantasy"

The Universe works in mysterious ways.

Take, for instance, how I stumbled across my latest musical find:

I should add that I am a big ol’ Internet ‘creeper’. Actually, I hate the language we’ve created for our mutual methods of browsing the Internet. Most of us are not ‘creeping’ or ‘lurking’ like some sort of perverted e-predator, hiding the shadowy corners of the Net (well, some of us are perverts, yes). But it’s human nature to have a healthy interest or curiosity in what other people are doing, and it’s simply smart blogging practice to pay attention to the metrics of your site. Granted, the #1 thing that gets me excited about writing for this blog is the small amount of exposure and recognition I can offer artists who appreciate my haphazard attempts at writing about them. But the #2 reason: I love seeing the whens/wheres/& hows of the people coming to my site. Or following me on Twitter. Or “liking” my blog on Facebook. It was, interestingly enough, the latter that brought me to my latest artist.

See Them Play was never born to rival the likes of Pitchfork (mostly because I’m too lazy to try), so likewise, my blog’s social network is modest in size. Long story short, I take notice whenever someone “likes” my blog on Facebook. Curious Jill will usually take a quick little peek to see who this cool new dude/dudette is and, at the very least, make a mental note about how awesome they are. But the last person who liked my page (that sounds vaguely like a sexual innuendo...) also had a link to his bandcamp page on his profile. And just like that, Alice fell down the rabbit hole and into a world of new music bliss.

Creating beautifully atmospheric music, Calgary’s Patrick Seager is the mastermind behind Poor Man’s Fantasy. Without even listening to a single note, his album Drifter already has several things going for it. Namely (but not exclusively), the fact that Mark Webber (who I may have a slight affinity for) mastered it. Of course he did. Mark Webber does everything. I feel like I should just base my blog solely on whatever I find after I browse the 'Mark Webber' tag on bandcamp...if such a tag exists. Everything that man touches is pure artistic gold, and Poor Man’s Fantasy is no exception.

Attractively organic in its sound, each track on Drifter encompasses a folksy simplicity which falls with grace upon eager eardrums. Seager’s layering of instrumentals and silken vocals make this album an autumn must-have, and will have you smitten with each note.
