POPA SAPKA - Balkan pop ska

Formed in spring of 2009 and named after the (in)famous jail in their county, Popa Sapka quickly became the favorites of their hometown parties. Soon enough they've hit the road to conquer hearts, souls and ears of music lovers in every reachable city. And everywhere they go, people fall for Popa Sapka's catchy melodies, danceable beats and stirring instrumentation, and can't resist dancing, jumping and singing along.

The music of Popa Sapka, heavily influenced by Balkan melodies and rhythms, is a mix of ska, pop, punk, gipsy, reggae, folk and last but not least, the traditional music of „mother Russia”. They’ve named this world music mixture „Balkan Pop-Ska”. Their lyrics' style, originated from the band's multicultural background, present a twisted mix of English, Russian, Romanian and Gagauzian languages. And their songs' light-heartedness and sincerity is what makes Popa Sapka appealing to everyone, regardless of age, height, weight, hair and eye color.

"Amazing live act! They really know how to make people jump. The band immediately got a lot of club offers in Bulgaria after their show at our festival" - Ivan Valkov, promoter of Spirit of Burgas festival, Bulgaria

"Fantastic band! They really rocked the crowd and we will definitely book them again" - Laura Coroianu, promoter of B'estfest festival, Romania

Career highlights:
- major festivals presence: Spirit of Burgas festival (Bulgaria, 2010) and B'estfest festival (Romania, 2011)
- extensive touring (clubs & smaller festivals, 2010 - 2011) in the Balkans (Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia), Hungary, Germany and Austria (at the legendary OST Club in Vienna), etc
