GENERAL DESCRIPTION

In creating this new orchestration, the arranger's aim was to include contemporary instruments in a tradition akin to Mozart and Prout who added woodwinds, extra brass & pipe organ to Handel's score. Each movement has been uniquely scored using popular rhythms (Latin, jazz, reggae, rock, pop, gospel, etc.) and electronic “flavors” presented within a truly universal setting. Drummers and electronic musicians can now join with chorus and orchestra in this joyful masterpiece.

This was originally conceived as a fun and inspirational community event, using professional soloists and pit musicians for the feature parts along with local singers and musicians. The arrangement, or sections thereof, is also suitable for small acoustic settings and large concert venues.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need a skilled lead guitarist and set drummer. In medium to large venues, the use of a knowledgeable sound technician is essential. Need help? Click "CONTACT" to request tips and suggestions from the arranger.

DURATION: This arrangement provides for an approximately 90 minute performance and includes some of the most popular and significant sections from Parts I, II and III. It also provides for two major arias with recitatives for each of the four vocal soloists. Sections of the complete opus have been selectively omitted. Obscure and usually omitted sections were automatically excluded. Directors who wish to perform sections not included with this arrangement may reinstall and perform them in a traditional manner. Click on "SET LIST" for the list of selections that are included.

AUDIO SAMPLES: Click on "AUDIO" to hear audio/MIDI demo samples. THESE PERFORMANCES ARE TO BE USED FOR REVIEW PURPOSES, ONLY. For best results, use full-range headphones or stereo system.
