Who are these losers?
A throwback to pop-punk in the vein of Blink-182, Porno Arcade are a pretty straightforward band. They like to party, they like to have fun, and their music reflects that. Their latest release, “No Chance”, may be about messing up and striking out, but the video is a fun one all the same. If the band’s infectious energy and hooky guitar riffs don’t suck you in, well, I’m not sure what else you’re looking for in pop punk.

I've always been a fan of pop-punk. Ever since my sister blasted "All Killer, No Filler" and "Enema of the State" from an overly large CD player while I played Crash Bandicoot on the Playstation, I have loved the passion, angst and overall irreverance that go along with the genre.
Porno Arcade (out of Wise, Virginia) have all of that in spades with their release G.Y.P.S.O. this record captures life in your twenties perfectly. The guitars are fast and agressive, yet twinkle gently when called for and the drums display that punk sound riding the line without ever dipping into simplicity. It is a brisk jog through early adulthood (no song is longer than five minutes) and I wouldn't have it any other way.
There are songs about heartbreak, loneliness, partying it up, parting ways and even a tune about a friend overcoming drug addiction (a personal cord got hit with that one)
There are some heavy topics thrown around on this record but it's all done with a late nineties pop punk flair. As I listened to the instrumentation and the vocals combined SR-71 definitely came to mind. I'm not sure if that's what the band was going for but it made me happy.
