Port Noise Complaint is the sound of experience. With the depth, weight and wry wit that only a life truly lived can bring. Set in a musical landscape that digs deep in its roots with a lightness of touch, and marches on with the urgency of stories that need to be told.

From bar room bawlers to ballads of longing and loss, from modern-day hymns to sea shanties and songs of dreams & confessions, the scope of the songs is wide; but all are brought together in a central theme of humanity.

This band brings you on lead vocals Dave Eaton. Born in 1949, his career started out as a policeman, before coming of age in the squatting, LSD-taking, 60s London, where he found himself in the thick of the counter culture revolution. Later he was a long-distance lorry driver, and then book thief turned antiquarian book dealer in Charing Cross Road. Songs appear to him in dreams as he recounts his adventures and misadventures.

Another layer to the intergenerational theme of this band is the father-son relationship between Dave and guitarist Sam Lewis.

Having been taught to play guitar by his dad as a teenager, it is now his role to help unlock his father’s stories as they collaborate as songwriters for the first time.

The catalyst for this band’s formation was the world-renowned clarinet virtuoso Adrian Cox. Finding his voice here also as a songwriter of extraordinary depth, and bringing in his own band of top draw musicians, who are some of the best young Jazz musicians in the country today. This shows a disregard for convention and a thirst for the real deal music that we all want to be part of.
