Bio
Port of Call is an amalgamation of styles and sounds. Their repertoire includes Jazz, Pop, R&B, Reggae as well as original tunes. The group formed in the 1980s playing to packed houses in the Metro Detroit Area.
Port of Call gained notoriety as the band that would perform tunes that other bands wouldnt tackle like Al Jarreaus Spain (I Can Recall) and The Zoo Blues by The Manhattan Transfer.
The foundation of Port of Call has remained the same.
Stuart Scaggs on vocals and guitar received the 2001 Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Pop Vocalist. He has opened for Azyimuth, Abbey Lincoln, Diane Reeves, Ronnie Laws, Marion Meadows to name a few.
Classically trained keyboardist Mike Evans has performed with Alliyah, James Carter and Martha Reeves.
Guitarist Randal V. Wilson has shared the stage and performed with Brian McKnight, Babyface, Fred Hammond and Lashell Griffin, Oprah Winfreys Pop Star Challenge Winner.
Percussionist Barb Hu-Du Davis was a studio musician with United Sound Studios in the 70s and 80s and has performed or recorded the Dramatics, Johnnie Taylor and Bobby Womack.
Darryl Pierce a master on the drums has performed, toured or recorded with Stevie Wonder, Bettye Lavette, Mary Wilson & The Supremes, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, MUDPUPPY and Bob James. In 2001 he received the Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Rock/Pop Instrumentalist.
This powerhouse of musicians is available for Festivals, Private and Corporate events.
