"Posable Action Figures - E.P. Review"

A year may seem like a long time for a band to be locked away in a basement studio without playing a gig, releasing a single or even having some sort of presence on social media. However, that’s the route Edinburgh 2 piece Posable Action Figures took before emerging with something a little bit special.

Posable Action Figures Their very first self-titled EP was released this week, completely free when you subscribe to the mailing list. Formed of 3 songs and a unique take on a bluesy/rock sound, the time and effort that has gone into this EP is evident.

Opening track, Mainline, is bass driven, and gets the balance right between jangling guitar and full on heavy riffs, all complimented by the strong vocals of Gareth Goodlad.

Not At All was recently released as the bands first single and is the stand out track of the EP. Fast pace, a catchy chorus and some punchy guitar work – what more could you want?!

Closing track, Oldest, shows a different edge to the band. A slightly more delicate beginning, which builds into an energetic pop/rock finish.

Posable Action Figures are an exciting prospect and dispel the myth that the Edinburgh music scene is in any sort of decline. This is an EP of the highest quality, one of the best first releases I’ve heard in a long time. - Netsounds

"New Scottish Music: Posable Action Figures"

Posable Action Figures are Gareth Goodlad (guitar and vocals) and John Alexander (drums, samples and backing vocals), an electro, pop-rock band from Edinburgh.

For the past year, they’ve been tucked away in a Leith basement, writing and rehearsing, and released their self-titled EP (produced by David Lloyd of Stillhound / Discopolis) at the beginning of the month. The results are marvellous; epic guitar riffs, infectious vocal melodies, tight staccato drums and samples – a brilliant debut. Single, Mainline received a spin on Vic Galloway’s BBC Radio Scotland show last week and you can watch the video for our favourite Not At All at https://youtu.be/ti72gxc0xJg

The duo play Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s this Friday, the Electric Circus on 20 May, Glasgow’s BLOC on 31 May and ButeFest on the Isle of Bute, 29-31 July. Get the EP free at https://www.facebook.com/posableactionfigures - The Scotsman
